Following his third marriage he bought 168 acres of land in the Ramapo tract at Paramus, New Jersey, from the East Jersey Proprietors, and this was the site of the family homestead for several generations. • The suggestion that Jannetje Van Gelder is the wife of Jan Tysen has not been confirmed. This placement is probable, based upon the facts that Jan Tysen's wife was named Jannetje; their second child was named Evert; and a witness for the batism of their first child was Feytje Mathijs, who is likely Feytje Brouwer, the mother of Jannetje Van Gelder.
