• When Samuel was 25 years old his father moved to Dutchess County, New York. It was probably at this time that Samuel also settled at Charlotte Precinct in Dutchess Co. On 7 Apr 1767 "Capt. Jacob Mott, yeoman of Hempstead," sold to "Samuel Mott, Yeoman of Charlotte Precinct," land-lot number 3 in Great Nine Partners "being one of the water Lotts." On 20 Apr 1767, Capt. Jacob Mott sold to Samuel Mott 400 acres in the Water Lot which was in the "last division of Great Nine Partners." On the following day, 21 Apr 1767, Capt. Jacob Mott of Hempstead, "for love and affection" gives to Samuel Mott, "my loving cousin" (meaning nephew), "part of lot number three known as Water Lott, to be taken off the west end of the farm that Samuel Mott now lives on." On 17 Aug 1767, Samuel Mott and his wife, Margaret, and Joseph Mott and his wife Phebe, sold to Albertus Schryver of Rhinebeck, part of lot number three. On 15 Dec 1787, Samuel Mott and his wife, Margaret, sell their land in Clinton (formerly Charlotte Precinct) and the remainder of lot number three to John Golden.⁴

Her five siblings, Thomas, Ellen, Sarah, David and Marion, were also children of Thomas Cook and Mary Ann Lambeth. It appears that after Thomas Cook either died, or left the family, Mary Ann reverted to using the married name of her first husband, MUDIMAN. She can be found on the 1871 census of England and Wales with the surname MEDDEMAN, while her children (recorded with her) are named COOK. The children came to adopt the surname as used by their mother (MUDIMAN) as their own.

• John Munro came to New York from Scotland in 1756 and fought in the Seven Years War. By 1776 he was a large land owner in (present day) Vermont, which at the time was claimed by both New York and New Hampshire. He was an active participant in the clashes that occured between "Yorkers" (people from New York) and New Englanders, specifically the "Green Mountain Boys," in the years 1771 to 1773 over disputes to titles to land in Vermont. During the Revolutionary War he served with the Loyalist forces as a Captian of the 7th Company. His extensive property in Vermont (New Hampshire) was confiscated. He went to England seeking compensation, and received $9000 on his $50,000 claim.^{11,12,13,14,15,16}
• He was named in the will of Cornelis Brouwer dated on 13 August 1765 proved 3 Dec 1767. Cornelius Brower of Schenectady, being sick. Names wife Cornelia, "all my real and personal estate"; son Hendrick Brewer and his heirs, to receive "my large Dutch Bible"; grandson Gerrit Van Antwerp and his heirs, "the house werein Elias Groot now liveth," in Schenectady; grandson Cornelius Rickey, "thirty pounds as he attains the age of twenty-one"; daughter Mary wife of John Monroe of Albany, merchant and her heirs, "120 pounds to be paid a year after my decease"; above mentioned John Monroe, Cornelius voids a note of 80 pounds that John Monroe owed of him; and to wife Cornelia, "one negro wench named Philis."^17,18
