  • Hoffman in "Brouwer Beginnings" (TAG 23:201) adds: "There was in 1659, one Jan Jerolman in New Amsterdam. The family must have moved to Albany, for the brother of Jan Hanse, Jacob Jansen Ralemon from N. Albany married at Hackensack, 1696, Pietertje Claessen from Ahasymus. Both families settled at 2nd River, or Belleville, New Jersey. The church records there start too late to contain the baptismal records of the children of Jan Hanse Jorelmon and Vrouwtje Brouwer. However, there appear a number of individuals of the name since the beginning of the records, but it is not always possible to determine whether these are the children of Jan or Jacob."6
  • Of the children shown here, Helmech, Agnietje, Pietertje and Teunis are considered, possible. No baptism records for any chidlren of Jan Joralemon and Vrouwtje Brouwer have been found. The estate settlemnt for John Vroliman (Jan 1732/33) mentions that "none of the sons present are of age." To date, there is no clear account of the family of Jan Joralemon and Vrouwtje Brouwer.
