William Dirckszen Hoogland1,2

b. circa 1669
  • William Dirckszen Hoogland was born circa 1669.3

  • Willem Dircksen Hoogland is covered on pages 167 to 170 of Daniel Hoagland Carpenter's Hoagland Family in America (1891). He was a carpenter, took the oath of allegiance at Flatbush in 1687 and was a freeholder there on 10 May 1692. On 14 Apr 1714 he took part in the town meeting in choosing persons to settle the boundary between Flatbush and Newtown. In 1715 he was a member of a troop of horse under Capt. Daniel Remsen. There is no record of his marriage or of the baptism of his children. D. H. Carpenter lists nine children for William and his wife, Neeltie Adrians Reyerse. The last mention of him on a record is a deed dated 15 Sep 1747 in which Willem sold a large piece of land in Flatbush for £750 to Henry Cruger, merchant of New York. No record is found of the date of Willem's or of his wife's decease, but it is believed that after the date of this last deed he moved to the home of his son Abraham at Wolver Hollow, Queens County.7
