Jacque Bruyere1
b. say 1665, d. 1710
- Jacque Bruyere was born say 1665 at France (assumes age 25 at marriage).
- He married Louise Doussot, daughter of Isaac Doussot, on 29 June 1690 "in County Coliere, Griefenstein, Germany."2
- Jacque Bruyere died in 1710.3
- A published genealogy, Jacque Bruyere, A French Huguenot and Descendants (1997) claims that he was born in "Chevre Co., of Champagne, France," and along with Pierre Bruyere are listed among the original group that settled at "Daubhausen and Greifenthal."
"BRUYERE left Bruyeres, County of Vosges, Alsace Lorraine, France around 1589 and migrated west to Cherve, in the Champagne area of France." The spelling in French is Chervey, and it is a "small village south east of Troyes in the mountains just east of Bur-sur Seine."
"Around 1685 they worked their way northeast across the Rhein River, into the dense forests of the Westerwalds, to saftey. On 7 Aug 1709 the pastor of the church at Daubhausen signed the marriage and baptism record of this family. Dates are taken from the register in the "Church of Daubhausen in the land and county of Colire, Griefenstein, by one Jacques Goret of said church July 10, 1709."
Jacque had a brother Pierre who married Susannah Thibaud most likely the daughter of Danile Thibaud, shown on the Daubhausen plaque, who was probably married in Chevre, France and she died in Monmouth County, New Jersey. They had one child, Jean, born in 1679.3 - Present day Daubhausen is a center in the community of Ehringhausen, in the Lahn-Dill-Kreis in Hesse, Germany. There is a Huguenot Church in Daubhausen (www.daubhausen.de). Greifenthal is also a center in Ehringhausen. Greifenstein is another community in Lahn-Dill-Kreis (www.lahn-dill-kreis.de). (A Kreis is a district).
