• Josiah Brigham Brewer was in no doubt named in honor of early Vermont settler, Josiah Brigham. Josiah apparently lived for a short time after his marriage, in Canada. He brought his family to Monroe County, New York before the birth of his second son. His own siblings relocated from Highgate to Massachusetts, Quebec, Canada and to Alabama. Josiah lived his adult life in Rochester, New York where he operated a bicycle shop.

Case & Co. while living in Highgate Center, Vermont, he is called a nurseryman in the Franklin Co. Business Directory for 1882/1883. He moved to Geneva, New York at about that time, and was living in Rochester, New York in 1900 and 1910. Josiah, his wife Elizabeth and their sons Harold and George are all buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery in lot #341. There are no headstones (Laurens Matsye Bancker).
