Ruth worked as a clerk and provided a home for her four younger siblings after their parents passed away in 1897 and 1898.  Frank Markman was the High School Principal at Olney, Illinois.  After retirement he moved to Jerseyville, Illinois and worked in a bank.

I checked on the internet and saw that Mr. Markman was the Principal at Olney, IL High School at one time. I went to High School in Jerseyville, IL during the 1940s and Frank H. Markman was the Principal there at that time.
