In the Name of God Amen I James White of Fayette County in the State of
Pennsylvania being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and
understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time
thereof and being desirous to
settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world
when it shall please God to call me home. Do thereon make and publish this my
last will and Testament in manner following and form. That is to say First
and principally I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God and my body to
the Earth to be buried Decently at the Discretion of my Executor and Executrix
hereinafter mentioned and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I devise
and bequeath as follows.
I give and Devise unto John my Eldest Son a part of the plantation whereon I now dwell beginning at a Linn tree on the west bank of the Creek opposite my Son John Meadows thence to an elm on the side of the Wash and thence on the same as the Linn tree bears to the Elm tree till it strikes my out building line of the whole tract thence with said outline till a corner white oak adjoining land of Thomas Wynn with said Thomas Wynns line to William Salisburys corner thence with William Salisbury land to the Creek thence up the Creek to the mouth of the Coal Bank River thence up said River to the distances of ten perches of my Rye field fence and thence with a line t the beginning Linn to him the said John White and heirs in fee Simple.
Item I give and devise unto Joseph my third son a part of the plantation whereon I now Dwell Beginning at where my son John line ends on the Cole Bank run thence up said Run with George Wrights line till Daniel Greens fence thence a short line of eight or nine perches towards my Orchard then with a Strait line near said George Wrights House leaving said Wrights house to the left of Thomas Carrs line thence with lands of T Carr to land of Philip Rogers thence with said Rodgers land to John Bailey land and thence with said Baileys land to my son Johns land thence to the Beginning Linn tree of my son Johns and thence to the Beginning at the Cole Bank River and as the above described tract of land would be more than would come his Just part of my Estate I will and direct he pay to my Son James the just and full sum of sixty five pounds Current money to be paid the first day of November which shall be in the year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Ninety five and further I will and bequeath that my wife Sarah shall have her third part of the said land. I Bequeath to my Son Joseph during his Natural life to him my said Son Joseph White after my wife decease in fee simple. I further will and direct my my Son Joseph pay thirty pounds to the debts I owe at my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the sum of twenty shillings current money to be paid one year after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ruth the sum of twenty shillings current money to be paid one year after my decease.
I tem I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sarah the sum of twenty shillings current money to be paid one year after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath to my dear wife Sarah all my moveable property and Negroes Horses Cows Sheep and Hogs leaving it to my said dear wifes management to give such fortune to my youngest daughters Mary and Abigail as she shall see (?). Lastly I hereby appoint my Dear Wife Sarah to be my Executrix and my son John Executor of this my Last Will and Testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifteenth day of July Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety."
