On last Thursday morning, Alexander White, of Clinton, after an illness of about 2 weeks, of typhoid fever, passed beyond the shores of time to that brighter and better world. He was familiarly known as Eloch by nearly everyone in Helt and Clinton township, and was respected by all. Mr. White was about 52 years of age and a member of the M.E. Church. His funeral was preached Friday last at Salem Church, Helt's Prairie, by Rev. D.S. Morrison, and was largely attended, after which his remains were taken to the cemetery, west of the church, and lowered into their final resting place.

Mrs. Sarah White, of Clinton, widow of Enoch White, died of consumption at 10 o'clock on last Saturday morning, at the residence of her son John White, with whom she had been making her home for the past few weeks.  The deceased was born in Kentucky, and came to Helt Township, this county, with her parents when quite young.  She was the mother of 7 children, all of whom are dead with one exception.  Had she lived until November she would have been 66 years of age.  Her husband died in 1878.  She had been a member of the M. D. Church for the past 25 years or more, and always lived an upright and Christian life.  We do not suppose she had an enemy in the county.  She was kind to everyone and everyone was her friend.  The funeral occurred on last Sunday afternoon, and was attended by a respectable number of relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances.  In her death, a good woman has passed to her reward in the upper and better world.
