"Joshua Phelps, b. Litchfield, Ct., 29 aug., 1762, m. ist Abigail Lyden,
m. snd Ada Upson.
Mr. Phelps first settled in Litchfield, Ct., and was a farmer. His
children by 1st wife b. in Litchfield. After marrying 2nd wife he removed
to Burlington, Ct., and late in life to Ohio, where some of his children had
settled, and where he died."

"Adah, was married twice. The first time to Miles Hill and the second time
to Joshua Phelps. The marriage was a second for both of them. Their
marriage produced two brothers, William and Samuel. Samuel was born in
Burlington, Connecticut, June 12, 1814. Samuel married Emeline Frisbie, Aug. 21,
1839. Both William and Samuel moved to Illinois and William founded the town of
Elmwood. Both brothers and their wives are buried at the Elmwood Cemetery. "
