Smuel Twyman was a Revolutionary Soldier, and was sent from the fighting line to carry a sword of a dead comrade to Giles Rogers, Albemarle Co., Va. There he met Fannie Rogers, daughter of Giles Rogers. They formed a mutual attachment and were married the latter part or sooner after the Revolutionary War.

In the name of God Amen, I Samuel Twyman of Orange County and State of Virginia___ sound in mind and memory [ ] my executor as soon after my death as convenient shall proceed to sell the whole of my estate real and personal on 12 months credit___ to put 2? 4? Or 6? Thousand dollars out to interest for the use of my beloved wife Frances Twyman and she is to have the interest annually for her support___if that is not sufficient to support her the principal is to have the interest annually for her purpose, immediately after my death I lend her one hundred dollars for her use and I lend her the choice of the beds and furniture. To son Iverson Twyman when he arrives at age 21, 148 pounds and executors are to bind my son to the carpenter's trade until he becomes 21.
The rest of my estate is to be equally divided among my eight children, and I give
One eighth part to my son John Twyman
One eighth part to my son Elijah Twyman
One eighth part to my son Paschal Twyman
One eighth part to my son Mordecai Twyman
One eighth part to my son Iverson Twyman
One eighth part to my daughter Judah White
One eighth part to my daughter Nancy Thornton
One eighth part to my daughter Frances Rogers and fifty dollars cash.
I desire my executors in person or by attorney with the fifty dollars and one eighth part proceed to buy a piece of land somewhere in Western county for the benefit for my daughter Frances Rogers, my daughter is to have the use of land so purchased, after her death the land is to be equally divided among her children.
After the death of my beloved wife Frances Twyman the residue of her estate is to be equally divided among my eight children. I constitute and appoint my son-in-law Anthony Thornton and Isaac Davis, Jr. as my executors.
