His children were still very young when this John Smith died.  John Wyat, an uncle, became the guardian for  the younger two sons,  Samuel Smith and his older brother, Maurice Smith.

p. (103) John Smith... 8 Feb 1695/6 Apr 1606... Son John Smith the plantation were my father, Mr. Alexander Smith, did live.  Son Maurice Smith the plantation called three Springs.  Son Samuel Smith 110 acres granted by patent.  Daughter Jane Smith.  My four children viz. John Smith, Maurice Smith, Samuel Smith and Jane Smith.  Exor: My brother Maurice cock.  Wit: Joanna Arkings, John Massey and Elizabeth Bildenhast.

We have a copy of the original will, but it is pretty much unreadable.
