"John Titus Shuflin was born 1/22/1824 in Wayne County, Ohio and died 4/1/1885 Columbus, Ohio (Franklin County). He was married first to Malinda Heindel with whom I believe he had 5 children. Two of those children died in infancy and one died at age 18. The surviving son was Theodore. I don't know much about him, but there is a story in our family that one of the Shuflins when out west and lived with the Indians and married an Indian woman. There is also a story that he was a scout for the military so perhaps that is where he would meet an Indian wife. There is also a story that there is a statue erected to his memory somewhere out west but no one ever had any specifics on these theories. The other child was Mollie. She was well known in our family. She married a man named John Frankenburg and they resided in Ohio I think. - Mollie must have moved to FL after her husband died because apparently she died in Miami on 5/2/1945. (She was born 7/4/1857). John Titus' second wife was Sarah Jane Helsel and Malinda (the first wife) was Sarah Jane's aunt. Sarah Jane's mother was Magdalena Heindel who was the sister of Malinda Heindel. - John Titus and Sarah Jane had 3 sons. The first died in infancy. The second (Frank Sr) and the third was Harry. Harry had a son named Donald."
