Ancestry of Charles Stinson Pillsbury and John Sargent Pillsbury by Mary Lovering Holman, 1938

"William Sargent appeared in Ipswich in 1633.  At this time he was apparently living in Newbury, Mass., but before 1638, had removed to Hampton, N. H., from when he returned in less than a year.  He was in Salisbury in 1639 and lived there until after 1651 when he moved across the Powwow River and spent the rest of his life in the West Parish of Amesbury.  In 1667, he was one of the 'Prudential Men' of Amesbury.

William served on a grand jury in 1652.  In 1653, he sued Samuel Buswell for a cow which had been killed by a beast belonging to the defendant.  It was agreed that he should have half the price of the living cow, as appraised by two indifferent men, and that its hide should be divided between him and Buswell.  In 1664, he was on the trial jury, and 13 Apr. 1669, and 12 Apr. 1670, he again served on the grand jury.
