"Alice Newton Buckingham, youngest daughter of Rev. Roger Newton of Milford, and wife of Daniel Buckingham, though married at twenty-five, had never had children, and hearing of this little grand newphew in Durham who bore her father's name, she desired that he also should be a minister of the Gospel.
She made her will before the boys was four years old, and died when he was five, before he could give any evidence of being able to fulfill her wishes."
