"Saturday night cousin Jack Jefferson had a spell with his heart. Monday morning
they found him dead. He died in his sleep. He was buried from St. Andrews
Episcopal Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Church was packed, and
there were a great many beautiful flowers. His wife and son survive. His
daughter died five or six years ago. He was still a very gallant old gentleman.
He was 70 the first day of last October. Don't you remember they use to call him
Handsome Jack when he was a real young man."
