Alexander Hannah was born about 1730.  He married Sarah about 1762 in Charles County, MD.  On 21 Dec 1766 Matthew and William Boswell of Prince George Co sold to John Hannon and Alexander Hannon, both of said courny, 174 acres in Charles County called Mary's Delight. (1) It appears John and Alexander were brothers.
The estate of Alexander Hannah was settled in 1778 showing that his wife Sarah had remarried to Thomas Riggs.  It also gives the dates of birth of his six children. (2)

Dec 21, 1766 Matthew and William Boswell of Prince George's Co. sold to John Hannon and Alexander Hannon, both of said county, 174 acres in Charles County called Mary's Delight.  The land was near Portobacco Branch, starting on the north side of Portobacco adjacent to Boswell's Desert. ( just to the north of the village of White Plains, Maryland)


At the Request of JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon the following Deed was Recorded this 9th day of June Anno: Domi 1767

This Indenture made the twenty first day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred a& sixty six Between Matthew Bosell and William Bosell of Prince Georges County in the province of Maryland planters of the one part and JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon Both of the said county and province planters of the other part whereforth that the said William Bosell and Matthew Boswell for an in consideration of the sum and quantity of Twenty and seven pounds currency and Twenty thousand pounds of Tobacco in hand paid by the said JOHN HANNON & Alexander Hannon the Recept whereof the said William Boswell & Matthew Bosell doth hereby acknowledge and of Every part thereof doth hereby acquit Recommend and fully discharge the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon Hath given granted Bargained and sold as by these presents they the said William Bosell and Matthew Bosell Doth give grant Bargain and sold unto the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land and circumscribed within the courses Lines Limits and Distances here in after Expressed Being two tracts of Land the one called Bossels Desert Beginning at a Bounded Black oak standing near a small branch that falls into porttobacco main Branch and near the land of Alexander Hamilton Running thence North by West one hundred and ninety two perches thence West by South one Hundred and fifty five perches Hence South thirty and three Degrees East one hundred and twenty perches thence East by North seventy and Eight perches thence to the first Tree containing by Estimation one hundred Acres of land more or less Lying situate & being in Charles County in the Province of Maryland and the other part of parcel of Land lying situate in the aforesaid county and Province called Mary's Delight near the head of Porttobacco branch adjoining to the aforesaid land called Bosells Desert Beginning at a Bounded Red Oake standing on the North Side of a Branch of Port Tobacco fresh Running thence North Eight Degrees East sixty and four perches then East half apoint South twenty and Eight perches thence south nineteen Degrees West fifty and six perches thence south twenty and three Degrees East two hundred and fourteen perches thence south fifty and nine Degrees West Twenty and six perches thence West by six half apoint South forty perches thence to the beginning Containing by Estimation more or less for seventy and four Acres of Land. The aforesiad two tracts of land totaling one Hundred and Seventy four acres. To have and to hold the two said parcels of land and premises Together with all and singular the Improvements Conveniences and advantages To the said one hundred and Seventy four acres of land contained within the ?meets and Limits alsoe Expressed belonging or in any manner of way appertaining to the only proper use and behoofe of them the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their Heirs and assigns forever and to no other use Intent or purpose whatsoever and they the said Matthew Bosell and William Bosell Doth for themselves their Heirs and Each of their Heirs Executors and Administrators Covenant Promise Grant and agree to and with the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their heirs and Each of their Heirs and Assigns the Aforesaid one hundred and seventy four acres of land and Every part & parcel Thereof against all manner of persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant and Defend and further the said Matthew Bosell & William Bosell Doth for Themselves their Heirs Executors and Administrators and Each of their Heirs Executors Administrators Covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said John Hannon and Alexander Hannon, their Heirs and Assigns and Each of them their heirs or assigns the aforesaid JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their heirs and assigns to ?save and harmless keep of an from all costs and charges that shall legally accrue in ?defined of the Title hereby derived from the said Matthew Bosell and William Bosell to the aforesaid one hundred and seventy four acres of land and Every part and parcel thereof And the said Matthew Bosell and William Bosell Doth for themselves their Heirs Executors and Administrators and Each of them?______ and severally covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their Heirs and Each of their heirs & assigns that they the said Matthew Bosell and William Boswell land their heirs shall and will from time to time and at all times hereafter at the Reasonable request and at the proper cost and charges in the Law of them the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their Heirs and assigns Do make acknowledge ?______ and Execute any further Deed or Instrument in wishing such as the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their heirs or assigns or any of them or their council Learned in the Law shall Reasonably devise, Advise or Require for the further and Better ?______ surety and ?_____ making the Land and Premises aforesaid unto them the said JOHN HANNON and Alexander Hannon their heirs and Each of their heirs and assigns forever In testimony whereof the parties to these presents hath set their hands and affixed their seals this day and year first above written

An inventory of the goods and chattels of Alexander Hanna, late of CC, decd, appraised by us on Sep 6, 1775. Includes: Negro man Duke (45), Negro woman Priss (35), ditto Cate (30); 4 horses, 18 cattle, 30 hogs; 3 beds, 8 barrels of Indian corn. Total: 250 £ 15 shillings 9 pence. Signed - Jona Yates, Charles Brandt.
Creditors: John Anderson, factor for Messrs Geo & Andw Buchanan; Samuel Hanson.
No kindred in this state.

The account of Thomas Rigg and Sarah, his wife, formerly Sarah Hannan, admors of Allixander Hannan, late of CC, deceased.
Debts include: the inventory of sd deceased's estate, exhibited into Orphan Court on May 5, 1778, amounting to 250 £ 15 shillings 9 pence; 9 £ 12 shillings money found in the deceased's house; money received of Elizabeth Crain, of Eleazer Davis, of Walter Pye, of Jezreel Penn, of Richard Boarm, of Robert Oakly; a crop of tobacco left by the deceased at the time of his death, being Jan, 1775. The whole amount: 397 £ 14 shillings 7-1/2 pence.
Disbursements went to Samuel Hanson per bond dated Dec 27, 1769; Robert King; Joseph Simms; John Hanson Jr; Joseph Edelin for rent, paid in the year 1755; Geo & Andrew Buchanan; William Hanson, late Sheriff, for levies and officers fees; Thomas Evans as per note assigned him by Mary Roberts; Robert and Monaca King, Executors at Benjamin King; Benjamin Philpot; Clerks Fees paid John Gwinn for Phillip Fendall; Craik and Jenifer; Doctor Thomas James; John Brooks; Daniel Jenifer for Letters; Walter Hanson, Register, for stating, passing, and recording this Account. Balance Accountable: 69 £ 18 shillings 6 pence.
Final Account: 397 £ 13 shillings 7-1/2 pence. Securities: Townly Maddox and Baker Howard of CC. Representatives: widow and 6 children, viz, William, 16 years old the last of last Feb, Mary Anne, 13 years old last Jan 5, Robert, 12 years old next Aug 17, Alexander, 10 years old last Jan 19.
