There are two possible baptismal records for James Cuddie. His first son was
named William and second daughter named Jean. Therefore he may be the son
of William Cuddie and Jean Russell. (1) He married Elizabeth Russell about
1780 and their first three children were born in Bathgate, Midlothian, Scotland.
By 1809 they were living in Cairneyhill, Fife, Scotland where their youngest
three children were christened . The death record for his daughter, Jean in 1864, listed her father as "James Cuddie Road Contractor." The death record for his daughter,
Elizabeth in 1867, named her father as "James Cuddie Joiner."
The death record for his daughter, Janet in 1869, listed
her father as "James Cuddie Laborer."
James Cuddie died 27 Feb 1816 in Cairneyhill. (2)
