John Cooper

It is assumed that John Cooper was born in England around
1612. He immigrated to Lynn, MA in 1635 and was one of the original 63 signers of the
covenant of June 4, 1639, founding New Haven. He may have married the mother of
his children in England or shortly after his arrival.
He married Jane Woolen,
the widow of John Hall, sometime before 18 Dec 1678. (1) He died 23 Nov 1689 in
New Haven. (2) The inventory of John Cooper, Senr. late of New Haven was taken
on 6 Dec 1689 with his widow receiving a third of the estate. (3) His
widow died within a couple of years after his death as the children from Jane's
first marriage were distributing their parent's estate on 14 Nov 1690 citing
that both of their parents were deceased. (3)
