(1) In 1771 Tithables for Loudound County, VA, Minor Smith is listed as if being in the same household as Clator Smith. In 1775 Minor Smith is listed as if in the same household as Charles Conner. Right after Charles Conner died, in 1778, the tithables read, "Elizabeth Conner’s Minor Smith."
James Richardson married Jemima Smith and his military record indicates he fought under Captain Miner Smith. See below.
JAMES RICHARDSON Virginia Militia; and North Carolina Militia. Born 25 Aug 1757 in Middlesex Co., Va. He lived in Pittsylvania Co., Va. at enlistment. He served under Captain Lemuel Smith, Colonel Peter Perkins' Regiment of Virginia Militia, Aug 1780. He also served under Captain Miner Smith, General Rutherford's command. He was in the Battles of Brick House and Georgetown. After the war, James lived in North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. In 1822, he moved to Montgomery Co. IL. where he applied for a veteran's pension in 1832. JAMES RICHARDSON was born in Middlesex County, Virginia, August 25, 1757. He entered the service under Captain Lemuel Smith, Colonel Peter Perkins' Regiment, Virginia troops, August, 1780. He also served under Captain Miner Smith, General Rutherford's command. He was in the battles of Brick House and Georgetown. Coming to Illinois, he settled in Montgomery County, and died in Hillsboro. [Death date 2 Mar 1842. (2) "Trees" indicate Jemima Smith was born in 1754. However, the headstone for Jemima and her husband states "J Richardson died Sept 12, 1841 aged 87 y." which would put her date of birth in 1753. See page for Elizabeth Smith
