Name: Colonel St. Leger Codd
son of William Codd, of Pelicans, Kent, England, esquire, who married, in 1632,
Mary, daughter of Sir Warham St. Leger, of Ulcombe, Kent. In 1671 he was one of
the commissioners to superintend the building of a fort on Potomac river;
presiding justice of Northumberland county, Virginia, in 1680; member of the
house of burgesses, 1680, 1682. About 1688 he removed to Maryland and was a
member of the legislature from Cecil county in 1694 and 1702. He was married
twice. By his first marriage he had James and Berkeley Codd, and by his second,
with Anna, widow of Theodorick Bland and daughter of Governor Richard Bennett,
Captain St. Leger Codd, of Maryland.
