Flavel Bascom
After graduating, Flavel Bascom taught at an academy at New Canaan , Conn 1
yr. Then studied theology 3 yrs at Yale. After became a tutor in the college for
2 yrs. Then to Tazewell Cty, Il. as Home Missionary, lived in Pekin and
organized churches. Then to Chicago as pastor of First Presbyterian Church, 6
yrs at Galesburg, 7 yrs at Dover, 5 at Princeton. Set up church at Hinsdale, and
at Western Springs
He had children from his other marriages, but apparently no surviving children
with Ellen Payne Cleveland who died just a few years after their marriage.
