Mustered out: 14 July 1865Truman Church enlisted in a Wisconsin battery after his first wife died but
because of his age he didn't last long and was discharged. William Harrison
Church lost his first wife and then he enlisted after his father returned home.
He served with the 6th Wisconsin Infantry and was shot through both (upper) arms
at Laurel Hill. After William was wounded, he stayed with his unit and was
nursed back to health, becoming a fifer with them. He survived and
lived to 100 years of age in Wonewoc, Wisconsin.
