When Flora Church Reynolds applied for membership to the DAR she stated that Isaac Church and wife, unknown, were the parents of Asa Church. "Isaac Church and wife, maiden name unknown, were married in 1736. His age 82, hers 104 at death. Their oldest son Asa was born at Mansfield, Conn., June 25, 1738." It is fairly well accepted that she had the wrong name for the father and that she was actually referring to John Church who died at the age of 97 and Amy Winter who died at the age of 104. They were married in 1736. And there is a record of John and Amy having a son named, Asa, 14/Jun/1738 in Killingly, Windham, CT
