Ely M Bronson was listed as Merrick Ely Bronson in the bible record, but appears to have gone by the name of Ely M Bronson.  He was named as executor in his father's will in Dec of 1868 but died before the estate could be probated.  He was only 31 years old.  His wife gave birth to their only child three months after his death.

The son, Ely M Bronson, lived with his mother until 1903 when he married Olive Smith.  However, that marriage last only a short time.  He had moved back in with his mother by 1907 and was listed as divorced in the 1910 census.  Young Ely became a veterinary surgeon.  In the 1930 census he is married to Alma, aged 57 born in Ohio of German descent.  In the 1940 City Directory for Indianapolis, Alma is listed as widow of Ely M Bronson.
