Alida Andries

Jul 2021

Alida Andries married Joseph Hegeman on 4 Jun 1714 in Flatbush, Kings, NY. (1) When her father's will was written in 1712 she was named as oldest daughter. (2) When her father's estate was distributed in 1718 her sisters, Hilitie married to Peter van Nostrand and Jannietje married to Hendrick van Voorheis, were mentioned along with their brother-in-law Joseph Hegeman.  (3)  The three sisters, Alida, Jannetje and Hillitje,  all married in Flatbush. (1) When her sister Hillitie married she was "of Albany."  She had been baptized in Albany on 30 Jun 1689.  In that baptismal record, Jan Andriesz, the father of Andries Jansen, was a witness. (4) Thus we know the name of Alida's grandfather.
Joseph Hegeman and his wife Alida were witnesses for at least three of their grandchildren. (5)

It is not certain these records apply to this family, but Hilletje’s marriage record says she was born in Albany.  If so, Jan died young.  Also, the witness Aaltje Jansz in both baptisms may be the paternal grandmother.
