Miscellaneous References to Lismagonway

The following references, funded by the research of Kenneth C. Breakey of Portadown, Northern Ireland, were shared with the author.

Reverend Andrew Breakey of Keady was Executor for the will, dated 1830 and proved/granted in the Armagh Diocese, of one Robert Luke.

Reverend Andrew Breakey of Keady was Executor for the will, dated 1830 and proved/granted in the Armagh Diocese, of one John Malone.

Reverend Andrew Breakey of Killyleagh was Executor for the will, dated 1839 and proved/granted in the Down & Connor Diocese, of one James Sweaney (sic).

M. Breakey of Lismagonaway (sic) was the Executor for the will, dated 1838 and proved/granted in the Clogher Diocese, of one William Breakey.

[Authors Note:  I wish to bring to the attention of the reader, strictly for the purpose of research possibilities, the following points of interest.]

1.  As noted in Chapter One, Andrew Brekey was born 1718; married Jane Flack in 1746 - Clogher Diocese Marriage Licence Bonds.

2.  Andrew Brekey’s contemporary   would have been William Breakey who married Sarah Wilson 1743/4 - Clogher Marriage Licence Bonds (McElroy to author, 11 May 1980).

I propose that Andrew Brekey and William Breakey were brothers, or at the very least first cousins.

In Chapter 3 the funeral sermon given by Dr. Murphy for Rev. Andrew Breakey of Killyleagh states that the maiden name of Rev. Andrew’s mother was ‘Rogers.’

In Chapter 1 – see entry dated 25 Feb 1785/26 Aug 1785 ROD number (373-175-24872).  A copy of the full deed should be requested to clarify the Rogers/Breakey connection.  It raises such questions as:

            1.  Was Mary Rogers, daughter of John Rogers, the mother of Rev. Andrew Breakey?

            2.   Does this deed indicate a second marriage for Isaiah Breakey in that his son, John, is mentioned?

            3.  Is the connection between Andrew Breakey of Lismagonway and Isaiah Breakey made clear?
