Sarah Brazzle was born about 1825 in Indiana.
Sarah married James M. Lamar on February 1, 1849 in Greene County, Indiana (Book E, page 83). In the 1850 census, James Lemarr, Jr (26 yrs old) and Sarah (age 23) are living in Martin County, Indiana and have a daughter, Phoebe(6 months old). Next door is Jas Lemarr, Sr age 67, his wife Martha Ann Lemarr age 56 and children David D, Hester Ann, Hellen M, Eliza Ann, Mary J and Charles H Lemarr. This is probably James Jr's family.
Sarah died and on Aug 21, 1856, James M Lemar married Unity Brazzell sister of Sarah Brazzell -- Harrison Co Missouri records. They had one daughter, Unity Lamar, in 1859. Unity Brazzell Lamar apparently died in childbirth or shortly there after because James remarried a Roxann.
The 1860 census of Harrison Co., Missouri, Washington twp lists James A. Lemar (age 36) with wife Roxann (age 21)Lemar and the following children: Phebe J, age 11; Nancy A. age 9; Mary J. age 7; John W. age 5; Unity A. age 11 months. Next door is Sarah Brazzle Lamar and Unity Brazzell Lamar's brother, Sampson Brazzell. Some researchers have the name of "Roxann Hunt" as his wife but I am unable to find a marriage certificate for them.
Sarah and James Lamar's daughter, Mary Jane (age 7 in the 1860 census), was married to Hugh Ratlief (he was born August 6, 1849 in Harrison Co. Mo). Mary Jane died on April 3, 1891 in Chetopa, Kansas. Her obituary is on this site.
