Lloyd G. Thomson

Lloyd G. Thomson, a pioneer resident of this community, passed away at the home of his nephew, Early J. Thomson, in Slater, Tuesday evening, September 1, about 8 o'clock, his death following a general breakdown and illness of considerable duration due to advanced years. Mr. Thomson was 92 years of age and was the last of a family of eight children.
Mr. Thomson was the son of the late Col. Pike M. and Elizabeth E. Thomson, and was born on a farm three miles south of Slater, August 3, 1849. In 1875 he was united in marriage to Nancy F. Brown, of Winchester, Kentucky, and to this union three children were born, two of whom survive. They are Mrs. Betty Randall (sic) and Mrs. C.C. Smeeton, both of Slater. His wife and one son, Jake, preceded him in death. He also leaves seven grandchildren, four great grand-children, besides nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
His entire life was spent in the Slater community where he was so long as his health permitted, an extensive farmer and stock feeder, and he had a wide acquaintance and was a man who was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
He lived a quiet Christian life, was always a friend to all in time of sorrow and need, and was a daily reader of the Bible so long as his eyesight permitted.
The funeral services, conducted by Dr. F.O. Criminger, will be held at the Jones & Salzer Funeral Home Saturday after, September 6, at 2:30 o'clock and burial will be made in the Slater City Cemetery.
