There is no marriage record found for this couple. I searched marriages from 1822 through 1831 for all James Hamiltons marrying an "Isabella". There is no record of a marriage to an Isabella Gilchrist. The LDS overview book on the OPRs indicates that no marriage or death records for Carluke are available 1809-1838. ------------------------- offspring of James and Isabella included "several Brooklyn Hamiltons" according to chart by Bruce Hamilton c.1970 from information from James Allan Hamilton !DEATH: per printout of Summit Park Cemetery dated 03/07/96 from Sally Dewey. grave 15/I, #42, undertaker: P.S. Van Orden, age 83y per death certificate, parents' names were Robert and Marion.

NY, p.250 l.42, age 14, but not in 1860 census, by which time he'd be old enough to have moved out. !BIRTH: per Register, Clarkstown Reformed Dutch Church, as copied by researcher Sally Dewey Feb 1997. No other Hamilton records in this church.

70 iii. Margaret Hamilton (#128) was born in Rockland, New York, Usa 1839. She married Ralph Fredericks. (Ralph Fredericks is #747.) Shown in 1850 census, p.251 l.1, Clarkstown, Rockland Co. NY, age 11. per death notice for Isabella Hamilton, Nyack Evening Journal, 11 Oct 1895, "Mrs. Isabella Hamilton, mother of Mrs. Ralph Fredericks, in this village [Monsey], died at the residence of her daughter on Wednesday evening". Since Margaret's sister Sarah already is known to have had two husbands (Barnes and Robert Hamilton), it is most likely that "Mrs. Ralph Fredericks" refers to Margaret.

71 iv. Sarah Hamilton (#129) was born in Rockland, New York, Usa 1844. She married twice. She married Barnes. ( Barnes is #362.) She married Robert Hamilton in New Hempstead, Rockland, Ny, 11 Apr 1883. (Robert Hamilton is #359.) Robert was born in Scotland 1844. Robert was the son of John Hamilton and Elizabeth Thomson. Shown in 1850 census, p.251 l.2, Clarkstown, Rockland Co. NY, age 6. m(2) Robert Hamilton per marriage cert. New Hempstead Presb. Ch, Ramapo, Rockland, NY, 11 Apr 1883.
