Thienport Emanuel 25 M Student of  Theology   Flanders

Emmanuel THIEUPONT : born in Belgium in 1803. Ordained in 1831, he received minor orders and subdiaconate in October of that year, and diaconate in April, 1832. In 1835 he did missionary work along the Miami Canal as far north as Toledo and during that year he spent six month at St. Mary's at Tiffin. When Bishop Purcell was in Belgium in 1838 he paid glowing tribute to the zeal of Father Thieupont. He told his countrymen how the priest braved every danger to gain souls to God and how he once spent six months along the public roads in northern Ohio caring for the spiritual wants of the Catholic laborers. In 1842 Father Thieupont was pastor of the Germans at Dayton. He later served at Portsmouth and Steubensville. He died at Logan, Ohio, October 19, 1873, aged 70 years.
