Louis Nays (or Nys) residence Humboldt. The Nys family came in the USA in 1856 on the David Hoadley, arrival in New York on April 1. Jean B. Nys 58 y.o., from Meldert(Flanders), his wife Catherine (Lurquin) 55 y.o. and their children Julien 26 y.o. and Louis 24 y.o. A girl, Amelia, 18 y.o. died at sea from dysentery like about sixty other passengers on board that ship.
With them another son, Pierre, with his family. They settled in Green Bay, the father dead occurring in 1860. His Home papers say he was discharged for disability in February 1864 for loss of right eye and suffering of chronic diarrhea. He stated being married but his "wife has left him". He died in the Home Hospital on October 14, 1874 from apoplexy and in buried in the Home Cemetery Block 23 Row 2. His wife sent an application for pension some years later, on September 27, 1879, but never received a certificate.
