died 10 June 1864 of gunshot (or sun stroke ?) at Guntown, Miss. (battle of Brice's Crossroad). There, the 9th Minnesota lost 9 killed, 33 wounded and 233 prisoners of whom 119 died in prison (66 at Andersonville)
