Biography
Residence Davenport :
Robertus Emmanuel Maria Josepha Le Marinel was born Antwerp December 24, 1841, son of a French Army Officer Amédée Le Marinel born Saint Lô, France, July 1, 1806 and having taken the Belgian nationality in 1844. Amédée Le Marinel married in Malines, Belgium, Sophie Joséphine Françoise Van Den Bossche from that town and and they had two children. Ernest born Louvain July 5, 1837 and Robert.
After the death of Sophie, Amédée married anew with Honorine Guyot. They immigrated in 1858 and are found in Walnut Grove, Scott County, Iowa in the 1860 census:
Amedee | Le Merinel | 53 | M | Farmer | 7500 | 1500 | France | from Normandy |
Honorine | Le Merinel | 31 | F | Belgium | ||||

There two sons were born, Paul and George, but in 1868 part of the familly was back in Belgium where Amédée died in 1869. Another brother, Ernest, died in 1875 in Davenport.
A Robert Lemarinel was married to a Catherine Martin in 1868 at Denver, Colorado but I cannot say if it's the same man. No other trace.
note: Paul born 1858 was a famous Belgian explorer of Congo and Katanga, he died in Watermaal, Belgium. George, also from Watermaal, an army Major, died during the first World War in November 1914 and is buried in Edinburgh, GB
