Biography :
Residence Dubuque. A Beck family was living in Dubuque at the time of the Civil War but not from Belgium. She originated from the Great Duchy and the father was born Redange. And a William Beck, age 22, in the Dubuque 1860 census, born Luxemburg, a bar keeper at Theodore Stemming saloon.
At Redange I also find a Jean Guillaume Beck born December 7, 1835. That William Beck died November 12, 1901 in Dubuque ans is buried at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Note: in the 1870, a Nicolas Beck born October 5, 1833, Redange was also living with William Beck and his family.
