Biography :
When admitted to the Home in October 1905, he stated by 73 y.o., a sailor residing at Vallejo, Solano county, California, married to Ellen D. Bell. Some years before, in the Washington territory census, I find him with Ellen in Thurston county, a farmer and upholster without children. But Im unable to find them anywhere in the 1880 and 1870 censuses. However, in 1900, they were already living in Vallejo, se stated being born January 1840, having emigrated in 1850 and a watchman by trade. She stated being born England in October 1849, having emigrated in 1870. In is pension card, it is also noted than George also stated having enlisted at a time in the Navy and died December 17, 1907, some months after leaving the Soldiers' Home at his own request. He is buried at the catholic cemetery at Vallejo.
