The 1860 and 1870 files file include only the part of Presidio County in the present-day Big Bend, i.e., Brewster, Jeff Davis, and Presidio County. In fact, in both 1860 and 1870 the populations were almost exclusively in the Fort Davis and Presidio-Fort Leaton areas, with the Faver Ranch being the notable exception and a few ranches such as the Spencer Ranch in few miles upstream of Presidio.
