SMITH, John Peter was born in Luxemburg, Belgium; died at his home in Washington Twp., Whitley Co., Ind. on 30 Apr. 1907 aged 90 years and 4 months.  He was the last of a family of five children.  He was aged 30 years when he came to this country.  First settled on a farm in Stark Co., Ohio but in a few years moved to this county.  His first wife, Myra Nix died leaving three children.  Only one of these is living, Mrs. Kate Miller of Wabash, Ind.  His second wife was Barbara Samson who died on 8 Dec. 1906.  Five of her six children are living: Mrs. John Seiler and John Smith of Massillon, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Houk, Barberton, Ohio; Jacob and Peter Smith of Washington Twp.  His funeral was held in the Catholic Church in the Nix Settlement; burial was in the church cemetery.
