JOHN CHRISTY (JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

John christy was born in Culpeper County Virginia in 1769.  He was about ten years old when Julius and Agatha moved west to Greenbrier Country Virginia and twenty years old when the move to Kentucky was made.

He married Hannah Whaley in Kentucky.  He is on the Woodford County Kentucky tax list for 1790.  In 1810 he is listed on the Federal Census in Clark County Kentucky with 8 children, seven under 10 years of age.

John was a lieutenant in the 17th. Regiment, Kentucky State Militia in 1799.

John Christy's death was announced in THE LEXINGTON OBSERVER:  "John Christy of Clark County died Monday night, 19th. June 1848, aged about 80 years".

Hannah Whaley Christy, John's wife, after his death, lived with their daughter Frances Christy Hunt.  Hannah died the 15th. of June 1855 and is buried in the Hunt family cemetery on Parrish Road, 1 mile south of Iron Works Road in Clark County.

John Christy's will is recorded in Clark County Kentucky.

WILL BOOK 11, PAGE 346:

In name of God, Amen, I John Christy, of the County of Clark, State of Kentucky, being of sound mind and memory do make and constitute this to be my Last Will and Testament, revoking all others heretofore by me made.

1st item:  As all my children are equally dear to me alike, it is my Will and desire that an equal distribution of my Estate be made amongst them all, viz:  James W. Christy, Polly Collins, Garland Christy, Julius Christy, Frances Hunt, Nancy Evans, Susan Evans, and my son Simeon Christy.

2nd item:  Simeon Christy, my son, to be Executor, with his mother, Hannah Christy, my beloved wife.

3rd. item:  James W. Christy to have $100.00 deducted, borrowed earlier, no interest to be charged.

Between Garland Christy and Simeon Christy.  Garland Christy releases all rights to the Estate of his father, John Christy, because of money advanced and loaned to him by Simeon Christy.

CLARK COUNTY DEED BOOK 35. PAGE 23:

Simeon P. Christy, Executor of the Estate of John Christy, 1849.  Surety, James Whaley and Orville Collins.  Sold for $5027.15 land where John Christy lived at the time of his death.  This consisted of 270 acres on the waters of Howard Upper Creek, and was sold to Thomas Boone.

JAMES W. CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

James was born on the 10th. of March 1800 in Scott County Kentucky.  He married Elizabeth Nichols of Clark County on the 28th. of August 1828.  They lived in Clark County until 1842 when they migrated to Platte County Missouri with their six children.  Three more children were born after the move to Missouri.
 

James was a farmer and, in addition, operated a light freight and passenger service between Platte City and Leavenworth.

James W. Christy died in Platte County the 21st. of January 1879.  He was buried in the family cemetery on their farm.  The burials on the family farm have since been moved to the Platte City cemetery.

Elizabeth Nichols Christy died the 15th. of June 1879.
 

WILLIAM CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?)),
was born in Clark County Kentucky the 24th. of November 1829.  He married Ellen Mormon, in Missouri, the 2nd. of November 1860.  They lived in Clay County Missouri.

MARY A. CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
was born the 10th. of March 1833 in Clark County Kentucky.  She married John H. Berryman on the 25th of December 1852.  Mary died the 6th. of October 1868.

NANCY H. CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
was born the 7th. of January 1835 in Clark County Kentucky.  She married Elbert Waller the 2nd. of December 1855.  She died the 19th. of January 1901.

THOMAS CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

was born 1837 in Clark County Kentucky.  He is listed with his parents on the 1850 Federal Census.  No further information.
 
ELIZABETH CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
was born the 11th. of November 1839 in Clark County Kentucky.  Elizabeth married Frederick Krause on the 10th. of May 1863.  She died the 30th. of June 1864.

JAMES CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
was born in 1841 in Clark County Kentucky.  James is listed with his parents on the 1850 Federal Census.  No further information.

SUSAN CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
was born the 16th. of February 1846 in Missouri.  She married Thomas B. George on the 16th. of March 1870.  Susan died the 1st. of May 1922.

LUANNA CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS SAMUEL (?))
was born the 17th. of June 1848 in Missouri.  She married Henry C. Mann on the 15th. of December 1875.  She died 1900.

FREDERICK CHRISTY (JAMES, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
was born in 1849 in Missouri.  No further information.

MARY CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

Mary "Polly" Christy married Dr. Orville Collins in Clark County Kentucky.  They married on the 6th. of October 1812.  Orville was a son of Dillard And Sallie Duncan Collins.  Polly and Orville had ten children.  1833 they moved from Winchester, Kentucky to Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  Their second child, JOHN D. COLLINS, graduated in March 1845 from Kemper College of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.  He then practiced with his father.  John was a surgeon in the Army of the Confederacy.

GARLAND CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

Garland was born in 1803.  He married Margaret Hickey in Fayette County Kentucky.  They were married on the 2nd. of December 1830.  Margaret was a daughter of Simon Hickey.  The marriage was announced in THE KENTUCKY REPORTER  edition of the 8th. December 1830.

THE LEXINGTON OBSERVER, edition of 30th. August 1848 reported:  "Garland Christy of Lexington, died the 26th. of August 1848, aged about 45 years.  He left his wife and several children."

JULIUS CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

Julius Christy, son of John and Hannah Whaley Christy, was born the 8th. of September 1805 in Clark County Kentucky.  He was a prosperous farmer and spent his life on his Clark County farm.  He married Margaret Franklin.

Margaret Franklin was a daughter of James Franklin and a grand daughter of Reuben Franklin.  She is named in Reuben Franklin's will (Clark County Kentucky Wills 1803) as "the daughter of my deceased son James Franklin."  Her grandmother was Margaret Lathom Franklin.

Julius and Margaret Franklin Christy are buried in the cemetery on their farm.  Julius died the 11th. of October 1895.  The final settlement of his estate (Clark County Will Book #29, page 400, 1898) names his son Simeon C. Christy, executor.  Named as heirs are:  Franklin Christy, Hannah Harris, Albert Rankin, Samuel K. Hodgten, William Christy, Lee S. Baldwin, Sarah M. Christy and Simeon C. Christy.

The following information of their 8 known children is gleaned primarily from Estate Settlements in Clark County, Kentucky.

was born in 1843 and moved to Dayton, Ohio.

SIMEON C. CHRISTY (JULIUS, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
Born 1845.

HANNAH CHRISTY (JULIUS, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
Born 1844, married William Harris.

ELIZABETH CHRISTY (JULIUS, JOHN JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
Born 1849, married a Rankin.

JOHN CHRISTY (JULIUS, JOHN JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
Born 1851 died before 1909.

FRANKLIN CHRISTY (JULIUS, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
Born 1853, moved to Terre Haute, Indiana.

SARAH CHRISTY (JULIUS, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
Born 1855.  Never married.

MARY CHRISTY (JULIUS, JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))
Born 1857, married a Stevens, and died before 1809.

DEED BOOK 80, page 271:  9th. February 1909:
gives further information on Julius and Margaret Franklin's descendants:

"Simeon C. Christy heirs and others:  "Between William Christy, a widower of Dayton, Ohio, Frank W. Christy and  Sally, and his wife, of Terre Haute, Indiana, Julian Rankin and Pearl, his wife, of Hamlet, Indiana, Charles Rankin, and Maud, his wife, of Clark County Kentucky (Julian and Charles only two children and heirs of Betty Christy Rankin, deceased), George Stevens, a single man, and Etta Stevens, a single woman, (George and Etta only children and heirs of Mary Christy Stevens, deceased.)  Hannah Harris and William Christy, a single woman of Clark County Kentucky; the said William Christy, Frank Christy, Betty Christy Rankin, Mary Christy Stevens, Hannah Harris, Sarah M. Christy, being the only six brothers and sisters and heirs at law of S. C. Christy as parties of the first part and Sarah M. Christy, George Stevens, and Etta Stevens as parties of the second part, etc.

FRANCES CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

Frances Christy was born the 15th. of October 1810 in Clark County Kentucky.  She married Jeptha Hunt on the 24th. of December 1829.

Their known children were: MARY HUNT, SIMEON HUNT, SALLY ANN HUNT, JOHN HUNT, JAMES HUNT, MARTHA HUNT AND GEORGE HUNT.

Frances Christy Hunt died the 5th. of October 1896.  Her husband, Jeptha Hunt, born 28 August 1804, died the 20th. of June 1885.  They are buried in the Hunt Family cemetery on Parrish Road in Clark County Kentucky.

NANCY CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

Nancy Christy was born in 1810 in Clark County Kentucky.  She married Marcus C. Evans the 14th of November 1831.  Nancy died in 1891.

She and Marcus had the following known children:  SUSAN EVANS, MARY EVANS and LOUISE EVANS.  and a son, "D.H."

ELIZABETH CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

Elizabeth Christy was born in Clark County C. 1807.  Her death is noted in KENTUCKY OBITUARIES, by Clift, page 89; "Elizabeth, daughter of John Christy of Clark County, died the 3rd. of September 1833, aged 26 years."  from THE LEXINGTON OBSERVER.

SUSAN CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

Susan Christy was born in Clark County Kentucky in 1812.  She married Silas Evan, Jr. in Clark County on the 22nd. January, 1833.  Silas was a brother of her sister Nancy's husband.  Susan died C. 1890.

Susan Christy and Silas Evans, Jr. had the following known children:

    NANCY, GARLAND, MARCUS, POLLY, SARAH, EDMUND, PETER, and NEWTON.

SIMEON P. CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?)).

Simeon P. Christy was born in Clark County in 1817.  He died the 15th. of May, 1891.  He never married.

He served as executor of his father's estate in 1849.  In 1850 he was living in Philadelphia, PA.  He is listed in the 1850 census as a salesman.  He later went to California.  His estate included a gold mine, "The Christy Mine".

JOHN CHRISTY (JOHN, JULIUS, SAMUEL (?))

John Christy, Jr. died in Lexington, Kentucky.  His death was reported in THE LEXINGTON OBSERVER:  "John Christy, son of John Christy, died the 3rd. of October, 1831."
