Frances Christy was born to Julius and Agatha Barnett Christy in Culpeper County Virginia in 1763.  She married William Cave on the 11th. June 1783 in Orange County, Virginia.  They were married by Rev. George Eve.  The license was issued June 6, 1763 and states that Frances "Is the daughter of Julius Christy who consents, and William "is the son of John Cave.  The license further states that William eas [?] of Brumfield Parish and Frances of St. Thomas Parish.  Witnesses were William Glass, John Gulley and P. Kavanaugh; Belfield Cave was Surety.  (Note that Belfield Cave and William Glass are married to sisters of Frances Christy.)

John Cave, father of William, migrated to Kentucky before 1890  [sic We believe she meant 1790] and his sons either went with him or followed soon after.  John's wife, Mildred Bell Cave, died while the family was still living in Virginia.  By 1789 both John Cave and Julius christy are in Woodford County, Kentucky.  In 1806 William Cave is Executor of his brother-in-law, John Valentine Lindey's Estate.  (Scott County, Kentucky Will book A, page 287.)

Frances Christy Cave is named in her father's will probated in Clark County, Kentucky in 1808.  William Cave is named in his father's will, probated in Scott County, Kentucky, in March 1810.  William received a farm of 250 acres.  His brother Richard received a farm of 216 acres and Henry a farm of 228 acres.  Also named were sisters of William; Nancy Cave Kelly (William), Rebecca Cave Haydon and the daughter of a deceased sister.

Frances and William are in Bourbon County, Kentucky in the census of 1810 with three females children; one less than ten years, one ten to sixteen years and one sixteen to twenty six years.

Mariah Cave, the eldest daughter, married James Kirtley in Harrison County, Kentucky on the 3rd. of April 1812.  William Cave was a bondsman, J. H. Haydon was the minister and Simeon and Francis Kirtley, guardians of James, gave their consent.  Harrison County Marriage Book 1, page 24.

In 1813 William and Frances Christy Cave sold a farm in Bourbon County and on 2 September 1817 They sold a farm in Harrison County.  The latter property was described as "Being on the Bourbon-Harrison County Lines."  This farm was of 177 acres and sold for $3936.90.

Before 1820 the three Cave brother, William, Richard and Henry, and their families moved to Boone County Missouri.  They settled near the town of Columbia.

Mary Cave married her cousin William Cave, son of Richard, in Boone County, Missouri on the 29 September 1825.

James Kirtley, husband of Mariah Cave Kirtley, died in Boone County the 23 October 1833.  Administration of his Estate was granted to Mariah and her father.  Named in James Kirtley's Will, in addition to his wife, were his children; Ezekiel, Nancy Pemberton (Harvey), William, Amanda Haydon (Abner), Zerelda Haydon (Joel), and Sarah (Will #167, Boone County, Missouri.)

William Cave, husband of Frances, died 6 August 1841.  He is buried in the family cemetery on their farm, 1 1/2 miles north of Columbia, Missouri.  His will names A. W. Turner as Executor.  The heirs named are:  Frances Cave, wife, daughter Mariah Kirtley, daughter Maery Cave, and daughter Sarah Hoover.  Final settlement was 5 May 1852.  Witnesses were Alexander Persinger, Walter R. Lenoir and Andrew Spence.  Boone County, Missouri Will # 518.

William Cave's brother Richard died in Boone County, Missouri.  He died 24 August 1836.  His first wife, Sally Wood, pre-deceased him.  They had married in Woodford County, Kentucky.  He marroed [sic] second, Nancy Brent.  Richard was an elder of the Bear Creek Christian Church.  The first Communion service for that church was held in Richard's home.  He was a verteran of the War of 1812.  His will is #249.

William's brother, Henry Cave, died in Boone county 1 May 1847.  His widow was Margaret Hawkins.   They had married in Woodford County, Kentucky 24 January 1790

Frances Christy Cave died in Boone County 18 June 1848 at the age of 85 years.  She is buried next to William on the family farm.

After Frances' death her daughter, Mary Cave Cave, and Mary's husband, William, moved to Caddo Parish, Louisiana.  William died there in 1860.  Mary lived to 1876.  Their son, Franklin Cave (1830 - 1882), was a graduate of The Univeristy of Missouri, served in 6th. Louisiana Cavalry, C.S.A., and headed a private school in Moberly, Missouri.  He married, in 1858, Catherine E. Galbreath.  (Compendium of American Genealogy.)
