On Sunday a youth named GILMORE of Papatu, was riding in company with some boys when his horse stumbled and fell, rolling over the rider. The lad sustained a slight concussion of the brain and was taken home, but is now recovering.

Thomas TUCKER, 63 years, an old settler here, was found dead this morning in the drain on the main road to Norsewood, opposite Mr HULL's residence. An inquest willbe heard.

There was a native funeral in Danevirke yesterday, the deceased being the only son of Manahi PAEWAI, one of the most respected Tahoraite natives. The boy was a fine lad of about 10 years of age and used to attend the public school. An attack of inflammation followed by consumption was the cause of death.
His remains were taken to Kaitoke and interred there.
