John W. Patterson, 52, the proprietor of Wallace Norge Village, died Friday, July 19, 1974, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. He had been a charter and corporate pilot from 1948 to 1967 and flew for Norton Produce and Cutter Aviation. He was a World War II veteran and attended the University of Arizona in 1946. "Pete" Pederson, 45, an engineer 15 years at Goodyear Aerospace Corp., died Saturday, Oct. 29, 1974, of an apparent heart attack after he and a friend had killed a deer while hunting near Payson and were loading it onto a pickup. Elizabeth Butler Peterson, 84, who had lived in Phoenix since 1919, died Monday, June 17, 1974, in Convalescent Hospital, Studio City, CA. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Phoenix Artists Series in the 1920s, Red Cross Gray Ladies in World War II, and Wilson School PTA. Glendale -- Sophia B. Peterson, 98, was born in Germany and died Thursday, June 27, 1974, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. She came to Sun City in 1961 from Elgin, Illinois, and was a member of the First United Church of Sun City. Brother, Herman Barth, survives. Services and burial were in Elgin, Illinois. Scottsdale --Anthony J. Petrillo, 43, a hair dresser who moved here ten years ago from his native Mt. Vernon, N.Y., died Wed., Oct. 23, 1974, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. PHELPS, Dr. Rose

Dr. Rose Phelps, 80, who taught library science at the University of Illinois from 1931 to 1958, died Saturday, in her home at Orangewood American Baptist Estates, 7550 N. 16th St. She attended the University of Michigan and Columbia University and received her doctorate in library science in 1943 from the University of Chicago. She came to Arizona 10 years ago from Illinois. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. R. A. Culver, and a brother out of state. Services in the Church of the Beatitudes. Private cremation. PIKE, Annie CARTWRIGHT

Annie Cartwright Pike, 104, was brought to Arizona by her parents in a covered wagon two days before her fifth birthday in September 1874. Her father, R. J. Cartwright, homesteaded at what is now 51st Avenue and Thomas. Mrs. Pike died Monday, June 17, 1974, in John C. Lincoln Hospital. She attended Isaac and Mesquite Elementary schools, now Riverside, until a new school was built and named in honor of the Cartwright family in 1884. Her brother-in-law, Tom Brockman donated the first plot of land for the new school. Mrs. Pike and her husband operated a livery stable in the 1900s where A.L.Moore & Sons Mortuary now maintains a parking lot on West Adams. Several of the Pike children were born there. She was born in Dayton, Calif., and was a member of the Glendale Church of Christ. Sons, Jess M., Elzy J., Vernon C., and Albert E. Pike; a brother, Elmer A. Cartwright; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren. A niece, Mrs. Lillian Mann Gardner, assisted Mrs. Pike. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. 6/18/1974.

Sun City -- Darle E. Pinkerton, 76, of Sun City, was a member of the Arizona Club, Sun City Country Club, and United Church in Sun City. Husband, Ralph R.; children, Barton Gleason, Mrs. Gloria Fisher, Mrs. Margaret Erzinger, Mrs. Nancy Hayden; a sister, Mrs. Alyda Behny; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Scottsdale -- Memorial services for Merle J. Pitsenbarger, 54, his wife, Christine, 43, and their daughter, Sherry Lynn, 11, will be Friday in the Freewill Baptist Church in Sophia, W. Va. Burial will be in West Virginia. The Pitsenbarger family of 8526 E. Valley View Road was killed Sunday in an 18-vehicle accident near El Reno, Okla. Mr. Pitsenbarger was employed eight years in the Valley by Allied Construction Co. Mrs. Pitsenbarger worked 10 years for Motorola. Sherry Lynn had completed the sixth grade at Scottsdale Christian Academy.
Survivors of Mr. Pitsenbarger include a brother and two sisters, Marley, Minnie Belle and Arlene. Mrs. Pitsenbarger's survivors include her father, Clayton Skeens; a brother, Eugene Skeens; sisters, Mrs. Norma Jean Kelley and Mrs. Juanita Smith; and grandmother, Mrs. Malissa Barlow. John Pleskach, 66, a retired weaver, died Monday, July 15, 1974, in Phoenix Veterans Hospital. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of DAV Chapter 1 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in his native Wilkes-Barre, PA. Wallace K. Porter, 93, of 2801 W. Van Buren, who had retired from the Tidewater Oil Co. after 47 years as an oil field pumper, died Monday in St. Luke's Hospital. The Rev. Guy Lewis Prather, 91, died Sunday, June 9, 1974, in Orangewood Baptist Estates. He had been pastor of three Southern Baptist Churches in 34 years in Kansas City, Missouri, until he became superintendent of the Baptist Association. He graduated from William jewel College, Liberty, MO, and took his master's and theological degrees at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the Sahauro Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and First Baptist Church of Paradise Valley. Daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Benneson, Mrs. Charlotte Spader and Mrs. Anna Hazel Canady; four sisters; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jack Goodwin Prentice, 81, who came to the Valley in 1929 and had been in the garage business 32 years until retiring six years ago, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1974, in his home, 6436 W. Flynn Lane. Mr. Prentice at one time owned Prentice & Son Garage at 6335 N. Seventh St. Survivors include his wife, Nellie; children, Mrs. Helen Smith of Glendale, Elmer Morlan of Phoenix and Gary Edwin of Kansas; a brother, Albert, out of state; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
