WALKER, Mrs. Belle

Belle Walker, 78, died Friday, March 6, 1970, in Phoenix General Hospital. She was born in Arkansas and came to Phoenix in 1943 from Texas. Survivors include one son, Fred WALKER of Phoenix; two daughters, Mrs. Avis FOWLER of Phoenix and Juanita OVERLEY of San Jose, CA; and 16 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren. WALKER, Bobby Ray

Kingman -- Bobby Ray Walker, 43, a deputy sheriff and minister here, died Wed., Dec. 31, 1969, of a heart attack after he was involved in a scuffle with a teen-ager. He and another deputy stopped two cars late Tuesday night north of Kingman for investigation of drunken driving. The scuffle occurred while the deputies were questioning the occupants of the car. He was taken to Mohave General Hospital where he died. Mr. Walker was the pastor of Emanuel Baptist Church. Wife, Bessie; daughter, Treleta; mother, Mrs. Annie WALKER of Novato, CA.; two sisters and a brother out of state. Services were at St. John's United Methodist Church. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery. 1/4/1970.

Joseph F. Walsh, 51, a former maintenance man in New York City, died Fri., Feb 27, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Newark, N.J. and came here six years ago. Scottsdale -- Laura Wandrych, 73, who moved here 10 years ago from her native Milwaukee, died Sat., Dec. 12, 1970, in Scottsdale Hospital. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of St. Anthony. Survivors include her husband, Stanley; two sons, Richard of Scottsdale and Stanley K. of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Richard C. Gormley of Phoenix and Mrs. Phillis Brocki of Milwaukee; a brother out of state and five grandchildren. Mass was in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. 12/14/1970.

WARRINGTON, Kenneth E.

Kenneth Warrington, 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. WARRINGTON, died Fri., Jan. 2, 1970, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Wittmann -- Wesley Wayne, 82, a retired rancher, died Jan. 4, 1970, at home. He was born in Kansas and came to Buckeye in 1903 to ranch in the surrounding area. He moved to Wittmann several years ago. Survived by his wife, Audra; son, William of Blythe, Calif.; daughters, Mabel STAFFORD of Scottsdale and Estelle HERSCHFELD of California; sister, Winnie WAYNE of California; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. WEAVER, Alfred S.

Alfred S. Weaver, 61, a retired photographer, died Dec. 15, 1970, in Phoenix Veterans' Hospital. He had served as an aerial cameraman in the Army during World War II. He was born in Pittsburgh and moved here 18years ago from Lancaster, PA. Survivors include his wife, Helga; a son, Wayne, of Phoenix; and a sister, Mrs. R. H. Gjelsness of Tucson. WEBSTER, Margaret

Margaret Webster, 72, died Wed., Dec. 16, 1970, in Memorial Hospital. She was born in Seattle, WA, and came to Quartzsite in 1950 and had resided in Phoenix since 1966. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Don Morris and Mrs. Anna Lockman, both of Phoenix, Mrs. Ruth Davis in Germany; a sister of Seattle, and six grandchildren. Mary D. Wedge, 63, who came to the Valley 28 years ago from Dayton, Ohio, died Tues., Dec. 30, 1969, in Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital at Cottonwood. She was born in Preble County, Ohio, and graduated from Miami University at Oxford, OH. She taught school fouryears at Dayton. She was a member of Grace Community Church in Tempe. Sun City -- Hazel Weiner, 65, died Sun., Mar. 1, 1970, in her home at 11468 Desert Hills Dr. Mrs. Weiner was a member of the Ladies of the Shrine in Phoenix. She came to Sun City in 1963 from her native Chicago. Survivors include her husband, Frank H.; sons, Donald of Harvey, IL, and Lester of Newtonville, Massachusetts; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Welch was a member of a Masonic lodge, Scottish Rite and Shrine, all of Canyon City, Oregon. He was born in Pearl, Idaho. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, T. J. of Grangeville, ID, and and Oscar of Springfield, OR; daughter, Bessie SPETS of Hayden Lake, ID; five brothers out of state; and 10 grandchildren. Services at Gibbons Mortuary officiated by Rev. Air Force Spec. 5 Robert S. Wheeler, and his son, Robert P. WHEELER, 1, were killed in a train-automobile accident on Litchfield Road March 1, 1970. Mr. WHEELER was born in Massachusetts and had been stationed at Luke AFB the past 2 1/2 years. His wife, who was injured in the accident, survives. Burial in Boston. 3/8/1970.

WHITE, Bertha

Bertha White, 89, died Sunday, March 1, 1970, in Bloomfield, New Jersey hospital. She came to Arizona in 1947 from Newark, New Jersey. She was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire and Osborn Women's Club. She and a daughter had owned a restaurant many years on Brown Ave in Scottsdale. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary KNOWLES, of Upper Montclair, New Jersey; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services were in Camelback Cemetery, Scottsdale. 3/6/1970.

Mesa -- Jerry Lavelle White, 30, an electrician for the City of Mesa the past 8 years, was accidentally electrocuted Thursday, Dec. 17, 1970, while working on power lines at 8th Ave and S. Sirrine. He was born in Maxie, Miss., and came to Mesa in 1957 from Gulfport, Miss. He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Charlean; three daughters, Pamela, Vickie and Sabrina, all of Mesa; his mother, Mrs. Nonnie Keith of Louisville, KY; a brother, Billy White of Tempe; and three brothers and a sister out of state. Scottsdale -- Amelia Hasebrock Whiteley, 85, died Dec. 15, 1970, in her home, 4701 N. 68th St. Mrs. Whiteley, a native of Cincinnati, came here in 1969 from Springfield, Ohio, where she was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Women's Town Club. Survivors include two daughters, Thelma A. Whiteley of Scottsdale and Martha Whiteley of Springfield; and a sister in Cincinnati. Services and burial were in Springfield. 12/16/1970.

Florence -- Charles Allen Whitlow, Sr., 72, a widely known Pinal County cattleman and rancher, died at his home Mar. 3, 1970. He was a native and long-time resident of Florence, was a past president of the Pinal Sheriff's Posse, a charter member of the Florence Lions Club, and Free and Accepted Masons. He served as Florence town marshal for several years and was a former rodeo performer. Survivors include his wife, Jo; son, Charles A., Jr.; daughter, Rosalie FOSTER; brother, George MORRELL; sisters, Mrs. Minnie GIBSON of Phx, Mrs. Sarah ARNOLD of Coolidge, Mrs. Elva WEAVER of Florence, and Hazel SELLERS of Llano, TX; eight grandchildren. Glendale -- Fannie R. Williams, 78, died Sat., Dec. 12, 1970, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Williams was a native of Texas who came here in 1913. She was a member of the Washington Women's Club and the Maricopa County and Arizona farm bureau. Survivors include three sons, Edward of Bullhead City, Virgil of Phx and Troy of Chino Valley; a daughter, Mrs. Julian Holmes; and a brother, Richard Nickell, both of Phoenix; two sisters out of state; 10 grandchildren and 25 gr-grandchildren.
