RAMIREZ, John Paul

Pfc. John Paul Ramirez, 20, died May 13, 1967, in St. Joseph's Hospital. He was on leave here following his graduation from the U.S.Marine Corps Aviation School in Memphis, TN. A native of Phoenix, Pfc. Ramirez graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1966. He was a newspaper carrier for the AZ Republic and was voted the outstanding Phoenix member of the Catholic Youth Organization for 1965. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Constantino Ramirez; brother, Robert K.; sister, Mrs. Celia Canez; and grandmother, Mrs. Maria D. Telez, all of Phoenix. RAMOS, Lupe S.

Avondale -- Lupe S. Ramos, 13, died of a heart ailment Tuesday, May 16, 1967, in Avondale. He was a seventh-grade student at Avondale Elementary School. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pablo Ramos; six brothers, Martin, Paul, Faustino, Richard, John and Freddie; and a sister, Maria Ramos, all of Avondale. 71, retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Navy veteran of World War I. He was born in Shade Gap, Pennsylvania. RANDLE, Melvin W.

Mesa -- Melvin W. Randle, 68, died Fri., Sep. 8, 1967, in Dreamland Villa retirement community clubhouse. He was born in Stockton, Kansas, and moved to Arizona three years ago from Denver. He was a retired real estate salesman, a Mason, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; a son, Kenneth, both of Pasadena, CA; a daughter, Mrs. Melva June WILLIAMSON of Denver; a sister, Mrs. Grace KORTUM of Mesa; two brothers and two sisters out of state; and six grandchildren. RAST, Annie T.

Annie T. Rast, 85, died Fri., May 13, 1967, in a Mesa nursing home. A member of the St. Francis Parish, Mrs. Rast came to Phoenix from Springfield, N.J., in 1955. REDER, Winifred R.

Winifred R. Reder died Sat., May 13, 1967, in Phoenix General Hospital. She was born in Logansport, IN, and came to Phoenix from Indiana in 1939. For 15 years she was the cafeteria manager of the St. Mathews Catholic School. She retired eight years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. C. W. (Jane) Perrault of Phoenix; and two grandchildren. REED, Robert I.

Services for Robert I. Reed, 87, 25-year resident of Arizona who died Monday, August 7, 1967, in his home at 1132 E. Buckeye Road, were at Mortensen-Kings Funeral Home, 1020 W. Washington. Services for Oliver Rhoades, 75, a real estate salesman for Snowflake Highlands Development Corp., were in A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams. Mr. Rhoades, 3022 W. Turney, was fatally injured in an auto accident Tuesday, August 29, 1967. He was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ and had sold insurance. Leonard Lee Rhoden, 28, who had operated a Texaco services station in Casa Grande the past three years, died Sunday, May 7, 1967, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Rhoden, 1629 E. Miss Riaza, 6730 N. 56th Ave., had been employed the past seven years as a sewing machine operator for the E.L. Gruber Co. She was born in Litchfield Park and attended Glendale schools. RIEGER, Clarence A.

Clarence A. Rieger, 68, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 1967, in a Phoenix nursing home. Mr. Rieger, 888 W. Baseline, had worked for Mountain States Telephone Co. since moving here in 1926 from Florida. He retired in 1963. Services were in A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary. Entombment in Memory Lawn Mausoleum. Mr. Rieger, a native of Manchester, Iowa, is survived by his wife, E. RIGGINS, Rosie Lee

Services for Mrs. Rosie Lee Riggins, 38, a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church here, were in Universal Memorial Center, 1100 E. Jefferson. Mrs. Riggins, 2229 E. Pueblo, was killed in an auto crash Aug. 9, 1967, in Centerville, Texas, while vacationing. Born in Grapeland, Texas, she moved to Phoenix in 1952. RIGGS, Mary West

Mary West Riggs, an Arizona native, teacher and writer, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 1967, in San Miguel, California. She would have been 84 on September 7. Mrs. Riggs was born in Snowflake where her parents had settled at the call of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught school in Snowflake after being graduated from the University of Utah. She and her husband, Don F. Riggs, ran a livery stable, a stage line between Holbrook, Snowflake and Ft. Apache, and a hotel in Snowflake. Mrs. Riggs wrote plays and readings, taught public speaking and was a professional play director. She wrote two books, the most recent entitled, "The Five Branches of Love." She lived in Phoenix. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Veon R. Shupe of Phoenix and Mrs. Alice R. Harris of Eagle, Idaho; three sons, Don and Rockford, both of Phoenix, and Curtis Finch of Walnut Grove, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, and 66 great-grandchildren. ROACH, Marshall Neal

Marshall Neal Roach, 68, a native of Glendale, died May 5, 1967, in Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born on an 80-acre ranch near Glendale and graduated from Glendale High School in 1916. He had been employed by the City of Glendale in 1935 and 1936. He was a veteran of World War I and had lived in Arizona all his life except for seven years in Oregon. He worked 26 years with Tovrea and Cudahy meat packing firms. Survivors include his wife, Ethel May; two sons, Robert N. of San Diego and Wayne of Flagstaff; three daughters, Mrs. Eileen Kestr of Hood River, OR, Mrs. Patricia Steward of Phx, Mrs. Marsha May Smith of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Essie Wood of Phoenix; and 17 grandchildren. Helen F. Roadifer, 78, a member of the Church of the Beatitudes, died May 4, 1967, in Beatitudes Nursing Home. Mrs. Roadifer moved to Phoenix seven years ago from Logan where she had been a legal secretary. She was a past matron of Friendship Chapter 40 of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the OES Past Matrons Club. She was born in Iowa. ROB, John N.

Prescott -- Services for John N. Rob, 55, who died Saturday, May 6, 1967, in Ft. Whipple VA Hospital, were at the VA Chapel. Burial at the VA Cemetery. Mr. Rob was born in Roseland, Illinois, and came to Prescott eight years ago from New Lenox, Illinois. He had been employed for three years a t the Yavapai Lumber Co. He became a government employee at Ft. Whipple two years ago. He was a veteran of World War I having served as a sergeant in the Army. ROBINSON, Stephen L.

Whiteriver -- Airman 3C Stephen L. Robinson, 21, died Sat., May 13, 1967, in Wilford Hall Hospital at Lackland, AFB, San Antonio, TX. He was the son of Robert E. Robinson, Jr., superintendent of the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. He was born in Bonham, TX, and came to Whiteriver with his family while still a small child. He graduated from Alchesay High School where he was valedictorian of the 1963 class. He attended Northern Arizona University for two years and the University of Arizona for one year before entering the Air Force in Sept. 1966. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. St. Johns -- Mrs. Verona Whiting Robingson, 55, who came here at the age of 3 and moved to California in 1930, died Sunday, August 6, 1967, in Glendale, California. Gladys I. Rogers, 61, died Aug. 27, 1967, while visiting relatives in Arlington, VA. Mrs. Rogers had been a part owner of Benture Tool Co. in Tucson and Scottsdale with her husband, Edward T. Rogers. She was born in Chicago and moved to Tucson in 1953 and maintained a home in Phoenix since 1961. She had been a Lady Elk in Tucson. Miami -- Josephine Ross, 88, of Country Club Manor, died Fri., May 12, 1967, in the Miami-Inspiration Hospital. She had been a housewife. She was born in Manchester, KS, and resided with her son, Clyde A. Ross, here for 19 years. She came from Spokane, Washington. ROSS, Leslie Hugh

Sun City -- Col. Leslie Hugh Ross, 76, a veteran of both World Wars and a founding elder of the United Presbyterian Church of Sun City, died Wed., Aug. 30, 1967, in Northwest Hospital. He had been in the wholesale and commission lumber business in Oshkosh, WI, from 1947 until he retired to Sun City in 1962. He was a member 50 years of a Masonic lodge in Wautoma, WI. Mr. Ross was a native of Columbus County, Wisconsin, and graduated from Carroll College in Waukesha, WI. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Dr. Stuart T. Mat F. Rosser, 75, a retired construction laborer, died Tuesday at his home, 10220 N. Ninth Ave. He was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota, and moved to Arizona 30 years ago {about 1937}. Samuel E. Roth, 75, who was employed 10 years by the American Motors Corp. in Kenosha, Wisconsin, died May 4, 1967, in St. Joseph's Hospital. He retired and moved here in 1959. Mr. Roth was injured in auto accident April 25 at 34th Ave and Bethany Home. He served in the Army Veterinary Corps during World War I. He was born in Hartford, City, Indiana. Coolidge -- William D. Rowe, 78, died Mond., Sept 4, 1967, in Pinal General Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Wolfe City, TX, and had lived in Coolidge 22 years, coming here from Oklahoma. Mr. Rowe was a construction worker, building high tension power lines. 58, a cost analyst for 16 years with AiResearch, moved to Phoenix 19 years ago. He was born in Albany, Texas. Wife, Elva; sons, Gene of Lindsay, Okla; Mickey R. of Garland, Tex.; and Dennis of Coolidge; four brothers and five sisters. Burial in Green Acres Cemetery, Scottsdale. RUBIN, Victor

Victor Rubin, 74, of 2422 E. Cherry Lynn, died Friday, Aug. 25, 1967, in his home in Phoenix. A former reporter for the Milwaukee Journal and the Chicago Herald-Examiner, Mr. Rubin wrote the novel, "Tar and Feathers" an account of his World War I experiences. He served as public relations representative for the Chicago Centery of Progress World's Fair in 1933-34 and later acted as legal research advisor for the Chicago Corporation Council. He retained a lifelong interest in historical affairs and was appointed executive secretary of the American Heritage Countil, an organization formed to promote understanding of U. S. historical documents. After moving to Arizona in 1958, Mr. Rubin taught American Heritage classes at Arizona State University and Phoenix College. He is survived by his wife, Lucy, of Phoenix; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Horn of Chicago; Mrs. Dorothy Thomas of Phoenix and Mrs. Lucille Romanoff of Skokie, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Sol Zien of Milwaukee; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. RUEBLING, Edwin A.

Sun City -- Edwin A. Ruebling, 71, a member of the United Church of Sun City, died Wed., May 17, 1967, in his home. Mr. Ruebling had been comptroller fur Consolidated Retail Stores in St. Louis for 27 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. He was born in Augusta, MO. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, Marilyn, both of Sun City; and two sisters out of state. Cremation followed services at Golden Door Chapel. 5/19/1967.

RUPERT, Phillip M.

Tempe -- Phillip M. Rupert, 51, a nurse at Mesa Lutheran Hospital, died Sept. 21, 1967, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Rupert, 1634 N. Daffodil, moved here four years ago from Grand Rapids, MI. He was born in Elkins, W.VA, and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Susan and Rebecca, all of Tempe; two brothers, Charles of Tempe and Walter of New Orleans. Burial in Green Acres Cemetery. Fri., Sept. 22, 1967.

RUSSELL, Rufus A.

Rufus A. Russell, 63, a member of Operating Engineers Local 428, died May 11, 1967, in Doctors Hospital. Mr. Russell resided the past 18 months in Casa Grande. He was born in Carthage, MS, and moved to Phoenix 21 years ago and had worked throughout the state. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; a son, Rufus T. of Iowa City; and a brother out of state. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. 5/12/1967.
