Gila County, Arizona

I invite you to enter a query for your Gila County ancestors. Please use the following guidelines.

  1. Your query must have a Gila County connection.
  2. Please use lowercase letters, and ALL CAP the Surname, making it easier for someone just scanning the page.
  3. Please put "Gila Query" in the subject line of the email. I host many counties.
  4. Email your query to me and I will post it, most times, as is. I do reserve the right to edit queries. If by chance I have changed the query in some way, I will send it back to you for your approval, before posting. Unless it is just changing from all caps.

Every effort will be made to post your query as soon as possible. If time allows I will also email you from the query pages to ensure the link is working.

--I recently visited the Social Security Death Index website in search of my father, Wesley E. LAKE, who I haven't seen in nearly forty years. He was listed as deceased and his last known address was given as 85545 Roosevelt, Gila Arizona. I  have also searched the Obituary archives of the Arizona Republic as well as the Gila County website to no avail.  His D.O.B. was 12/24/1927 and his expiration date was 1/26/1995. If you could provide me with any information at all I would be very grateful. Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Wesley E. Lake, Jr.

--I am trying to find out any information anybody out there may have about Jim NEWBOULD.  He was born in a wagon train outside Fayetteville, AR, and ended up later in life as a miner in Jerome.  He took great pride in being "a miner all his life".  He worked for a time at the "Little Daisy" mine in Jerome.  He later left Jerome and went to Globe where he had his own silver mine claims in Richmond Basin, in partnership with his brother Joseph.  After Joseph's death, he went into partnership with Joseph's wife, Fannie.  She took care of him the rest of his life. He died in 1958 and is buried in Globe. He was indeed an interesting character and I would like to know more about him. If anyone has any family stories about him, I would be most interested to share that info.  Thanks ! Annie Schaff Oak Harbor, WA

-I am looking for families of MCFADDEN and HUDSON in Gila county. Elsie Lora MCFADDEN was born in Payson in 1915 to James Henry MCFADDEN and Mary Ruby Jane HUDSON. By the time ELsie was in 8th grade she had moved with her mother and brothe Theron James MCFADDEN to Los Angeles.Parents of James were William Dallas MCFADDEN and Nancy Jane GORDON. Parents of "Ruby" were Columbus Bradley HUDSON and Laura Indiana SNODGRASS. Parents of Columbus were Henry Rhchard HUDSON and Huldah Jane JOY. Parents of Laura were Jerome Bonapart SNODGRASS and Mary MURNAN.

I believe that James and Ruby lived on a ranch outside of Payson but not sure where. There was supposedly a McFadden Mountain named after some of the relatives but that name was changed some years ago I understand. Some of the HUDSON and MCFADDEN families continued to live in the area for years I understand. Any help would be great.
