Austrian Genealogy - Schrattenthal Cemetery
Schrattenthal Cemetery

Schrattenthal is located in Lower Austria, on the former crossroads between Moravia, Bohemia and Austria. Because of its strategic importance it was granted the rights of a town more than 500 years ago. Today it has the size of a village yet it is still formally a town; the second smallest town in Austria. Schrattenthal This page has been created by Charles Wardell as an example of a cemetery documentation in the context of the International Tombstone Transcription Project planned as an extension of Pamela Brown Reid's well known US National Tombstone Transcription Project.

The main features of this documentation are:

SurnameHelper The SurnameHelper system has been used to index the surnames. The advantage is that the index is then automatically available to researchers making surname queries (not just those specifically making cemetery queries).
Click for Image By clicking on this icon, you obtain a full size JPEG image (average 40 KB) of the respective tombstone. The shots (one or more per tombstone) were made with an Olympus C-800L Camedia.
