Union County, Arkansas was formed in 1829 from portions of Hempstead County and Clark County. Bradley County, in 1840, and Ouachita County, in 1842, were formed from part of Union County. In 1848, a portion of Union, along with parts of Drew and Chicot Counties, formed Ashley County. The county seat of Union County is El Dorado.

This site is a proud  part of the USGenWeb Project. My name is Marie Rosenbaum Harvey and I welcome and encourage the contribution of Union County information and links for this site. Please email me if you would like to help.

"MARRIAGES OF UNION COUNTY , 1829 - 1870"as published in THE GENIE  1981 - Contributed by Coyal Gorman

Directory page is here . Every effort has been made for accuracy in transcription but since I am human there may be errors. If you think you have found a mistake, please send an e-mail to me ----- I have scanned pages at my fingertips and will double check.

The marriage records were found in "The Genie" published quarterly by the Ark-La-Tex Genealogical Association, Inc.  in Shreveport, Louisiana. "The Genie" can be found at the Shreve Memorial Library Genealogy Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Details here.

Aaron Miller has generously allowed a large number of photos of old Union County life, families, etc to be posted on the web site honoring his grandparents, Margaret Hollingsworth Miller Borden and Aaron Dale Miller. These will be changed from time to time so interested folks will definitely need to "stay tuned"!!

Our thanks to Aaron for this contribution! Go here to see them.
