you are required to appear and exhibit your accounts for settlement at the next term of our Probate court, to be holden in and for the county of Randolph at the court house in the town of Pocahontas on the fourth Monday in July next 1849 that being the day on which the Probate Court of the county of Randolph is to be holden; and show cause why an attachment should not be issued against your for not exhibiting your accounts at the term at which you should have done by law.

    I, Thomas Laster do solemnly swear that the valve of the estate of Wiley J BRIDGES deceased who died intestate on or bout the 17th day of October 1856, up on whose estate I have prayed letter of administration to the best of my knowledge and belief more than seven hundred dollars. that the said Wiley J BRIDGES died without making a will  leaving his only heirs Jane SWEAZEA wife of Johnson A. Sweazea who is a sister of the same Wiley, Francis M RUSSELL age about 22 years, Rawford R. RUSSELL aged about 21 years, Louisa J. RUSSELL age about 19 years, Martha A. RUSSELL aged about 18 years old. Susan S. RUSSELL about 12 years old. Ellen M. RUSSELL about 14 years old, Zachary L. RUSSELL about 10 years old. Emily B. wife of Thos S. SIMINGTON about 23 years old who are children of Parthena M RUSSELL, late of County who was a sister of said Wiley. Parthena E., Thomas, Margarette, James W. and Louisa BRIDGES, who are minors and Children of Banes F. BRIDGES, deceased who was a brother of said Wiley, all of whom reside in said county also four children who are minors and children of Emeline and James Morgan who reside in Jackson County Ark. which said Emeline is a sister to said Wiley.

County of Randolph}        In the matter of James M. Reynolds Estate.Thomas Foster says that, to the best  of his knowledge  and belief, the names of the Heirs of  the said J.M. Reynolds, deceased, and their places and residences, are, respectively, as follows:
D.W. Reynolds and Thos. Reynolds who resides in the County of Randolph in the State of Arkansas, Addie Herron & Martha A. Wells who resides in the County of Randolph , in the State of Arkansas, Ida Kirkpatrick, Jacob Reynolds and Mollie Reynolds who resides in the County of Randolph in the State of Ark., Mattie, Bell, and Ervin Reynolds, who resides in the County of Randolph in the State of Ark., and Heirs of John Reynolds, deceased and the Heirs of Amanda Luttrell deceased who resides in the State of Texas.

That the Estate is of the value of about Twelve Hundred dollars. That the said J.M. Reynolds died without a will; that he will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all the Estate of the deceased, and pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the lay direct,and account for and pay all assets which shall  come to his possession or knowledge.

Know ye that whereas Thomas Holderby of the county of Randolph died intestate, as it is said on or about the 21st day of Nov. A.D. 1843, having at the time of his death personal property in this State, which may be lost, destroyed or diminished in value if speedy care be not taken of the same to the end therefore that the said property may be collected, preserved and disposed of according to law, we do hereby appoint James Holderby of the County of Randolph, administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits which were of the said Thomas Holderby at the time of his death with full power to secure and dispose of the said property according to law and collect all moneys due said deceased, and in general to do and perform all other acts and things which are or hereafter may be required of him by law.

I, James Holderby do solemnly swear that the value of the estate of Thomas Holderby, deceased, who died intestate, & upon whose estate I have prayed letters of administration is not to the best of my knowledge and belief more than Four hundred dollars, That said Thomas Holderby died without making a will, leaving as his only heirs, his wife, Margarett Holderby, William S. Holderby, aged about Twenty four years, R. D. Holderby aged about Twenty one or two years, Mary Smith aged about Twenty, Hanner Barringer aged about eighteen, Elizabeth Holderby, about sixteen years of age, Robert Holderby aged about thirteen or fourteen years, James Holderby aged about eight years last February, Caroline aged six years, Margarett Holderby aged three years, and Thomas J. Holderby aged six weeks, all of whom reside in said County of Randolph and State aforesaid, That I will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of said intestate, and pay his debts as far as the assets, which may come to my hand shall extend and the law direct, and account for and pay over, according to law all assets that shall come to my hands or possession, So help me God.

County of Randolph ) Know all men by these presents that we James Holderby as principal and Seymour Puryear & Jarrett Wayland as securities are held and firmly bound unto the State of Arkansas in the sum of eight hundred dollars, lawful money of the United States of America, to the payment whereof will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our & each of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. 

Signed and sealed this 11th day of December A.D. 1843.

Conditioned that if the above bounded James Holderby Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Thomas Holderby, deceased, shall make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the deceased which have or may come to the hands or possession of knowledge of him the said James Holderby, or unto the hands or possession of any other person for him, and the same so made, shall return and exhibit it in the office of the Clerk of Probate Court for the County of Randolph, within sixty days from the date of the above obligation, and all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the deceased which shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of him the said James Holderby. He shall will and truly administer according to law, and pay the debts of the deceased as far as his assets will extend and the law direct and further make or cause to be made just and true accounts of his administrations and make due and proper settlements thereof from time to time according to law, or the lawful order, or sentence of, or decree of any court having competent jurisdiction, and shall moreover will and truly do and perform all other matters and things touching such administration, that are or may be prescribed by law, or enjoined on such administrator by the lawful order, sentence or decree of any court having competent jurisdiction, then the above obligation to be void and of no effect otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

I Thomas Foster of the county of Randolph in the state of Arkansas being of sound and dispensing mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and testament. Hereby revoking all other wills at any time heretofore by me made, 
first; I give will and bequeath to my daughter Martha A Foster, the following described tracts orparcels of land to ____? By the west half of the south east quarter and the east half of the southwest quarter and the south west quarter of section no. Sixteen and the west half of the north east quarter and the south east quarter of the north east quarter and the north east quarter of the southeast quarter of section no twenty one and the north west quarter of the south west quater1/4 of section no twenty two all in township no. twenty north range one east and containing in all four hundred acres,
second I give will and bequeath to my son James G Foster, the following described tract or parcels of land to wit by the East half of south east quarter and the south east quarter of northeast quarter of section sixteen and the north east quarter 1/4 of north west quarter and the northwest quarter of north east quarter (NW1/4ofNE1/4) and the south half of north west quarter and west half of south west quarter of section fifteen (15) all on township no. twenty north range one east containing three hundred and sixty acres.
Third I give and bequeath to my son Simon Peter Foster, the following described tracts or parcels of land to __? The south half of north half of north east quarter and the south half of the northeast quarter and the north half of the south east quarter of section no. twenty in township no. twenty north range one east containing two hundred acres intended to be the tract of land know as the McNabb place and whether or not by number correctly described the same is hereby given willed and bequeathed to my same son Simon Peter and also I give will and bequeath to my saidson Simon Peter Foster the north east fractional quarter of section no. Two in township Nineteen south range two east and lot no. One of the north west quarter and lot number eight of the southwest quarter of section thirty five and the south east quarter of the south east quarter of section no. Twenty seven and the south frac. Half of south west fractional quarter of section twenty six in township twenty (20) N. Range two east intended to be and contain all that tract and parcels of land belonging to me and known as the Duckworth bend place, and wether or not by numbers correctly described the said Duckworth bend land is hereby given willed and bequeathed to mysaid son Simon Peter Foster.
Fourth I give will and bequeath to my son Rufus B Foster, the following described tract or parcels of land to wit; the west half of north west quarter and the south west quarter and the south half of the south east quarter of Section No. (20) twenty and the north half of the north west quarter of section no. twenty 20 North range one East, containing all four hundred acres and intended to contain and be all that tracts and parcels of land known as my home place and whether the same is hereby given willed and bequeathed to my said son Rufus B. Foster.
Fifth I give will and bequeath to my two youngest children Simon Peter Foster and Rufus B.Foster an addition to the lands I have here in before given and willed to them, all that tract or parcels of land now owned by me and known as the Hill place in Current River bottom to be held and owned jointly by them described by no. As follows the south west quarter of the south west quarter of section no. Thirty three the north west quarter of the south east quarter 1/4 of section thirty two and the south half of the south east quarter of Section thirty two in township no.twenty N. Range two east and the south fractional half of north west fractional quarter and the north half of north west quarter of section no. Four (4) and the east half of the north east quarter of section five in township no. nineteen north range two 2 east. And part of E. of south west quarter of section no. Thirty three on township twenty range two east and whether or not the description by Surveyors are correctly made My intention and will is that my said sons Simon Peter Foster, and Rufus B. Foster shall have to them jointly all the land I own known as the Hill place or farm in addition to the land I have to each of them seperatly given.
Sixth I give will and bequeath to my youngest child Rufus B. Foster two hundred dollars in money and I direct that my executors here in after named and appointed shall set that amount of the proceeds of sales of my person property out to him to be paid as soon after my decease as to my said executors may deem right and prompt.
Seventh It is my will and wish that my children remain as a family on the home tract given by me to my son Rufus B. Foster and so long as they any two of them shall so remain that they the remaining ones shall stay

Owens who resides in the County of Randolph in the State of Ark, Dennis O. Owens who resides in the County of Randolph in the State of Ark; that the said Only Owens died without a will and that she will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all the estate of the deceased, and pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the lay direct, and account for and pay all assets which shall come to her possession or knowledge. Probate Records Jany Term 1866 - Samuel J. Noblin, Dec'd.

In the matter of vesting the property belonging to the estate of Saml J. Noblin, Dec'd.

Now on this day comes Martha Jane Noblin by her atty Jos. I. Marvin? Esq and files her petition according to law setting forth fact that she is the lawful widow of Saml J. Noblin, decd, and that the said Samuel J. departed this life in the year 1863 leaving an Estate in the County of Randolph ____ value _____ _____ Hundred Dollars embracing the following described real estate. (land described - writing difficult to read)...and the prayer of said petition is that said estate vest absolutely in said petitioner, Martha Jane Noblin, and being duly advised in the pre_ses it is ordered by this court that said estate vest absolutely in the said Martha Jane Noblin, and that said petitioner pay the cost of this processing.

Marion Powell was originally from Alabama but became a resident of Clay County Arkansas about 1880. About 1889, he settled in Randolph County where he lived until his death in 1910. He was married three times. First to Sarah Amanda Gant born 1857, died about 1889; second to Ada L. Hunsinger born about 1872, died 1904; and third to Jane Allen from whom he was separated when he died. He had 11 children. They were Larance (died as a child), Luella, John, Demps, Henry, Clara, Perry, Eula, Viola, Beatrice, and Ada.  The following documents were contributed by Leah Rodis.

"APPLICATION FOR LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION

State of Arkansas, County of Randolph

In the Probate Court of Randolph County Ark. April 30 A.D. 1910

 I, Don M. Ruff, now making application for Letters of Administration on the estate of Marion M. Powell, do solemnly swear that to the best of my knowledge and belief, the value of the estate of Marion M. Powell late of Supply, Arkansas in the County aforesaid, deceased, is about Twelve Hundred ($1200.00) Dollars; that the names and residence of the heirs of the deceased, as far as known, are as follows viz: John 29, Demps M. 25, Henry 23, Clara 16, Perry 15, Eula 12, Violet 11, Beatrice 7, and Ada Powell age 6 years all of Supply, Ark and Oren Polk a guard child 11 years old Supply, Ark, that said Marion M. Powell deceased, died leaving no last will and testament, so far as known by me and further, that I will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all and singular the good and chattels, rights and credits of the deceased, and pay his debts, as far as the assets which may come to my hands will extend, and the law directs; and that I will account for, and pay over according to law, all assets which shall come to my hands or possession, so help me God."

I William Jarrett as guardian of the heirs of Levi Fletcher desc. would most respectfully represent to the judge of the probate court now in session that in the matter of a division of the slaves belonging to the heirs of said desc. the following proceedings was had on the first day of January A D 1849 (To Wit)

It being first apertained that the said slaves would became a charge or nearly so on account, that the woman had a child only 1 month old, and the other 2 children being too small to be kept clear of charge it was agreed upon between myself and John G Fletcher and Josaphine Fletcher heirs oas aforesaid and the said John being over the age of 21 years, and said Josaphine being 21 years old in May 1849, that the slaves should be valued by Daniel M Rapert, Larkin F. Johnson and Joshua Dratfs which valuatian is herewith subscribed marked (A) the slaves was therefore divided as follows (To Wit) John G and Henderson Fletcher taking girls and child at 550.00 Josahine took Casline 6 years old at 250.00 Mariah took Ann 2 years and 4 months old at 175.00 where for John and Henderson gave to me their not for the use of Mariah for 62.50. and Josaphine gave her note with R B Mock and Isaac Martin for security for six dollars and 25 cents for the use of Mariah Fletcher, said notes being giving only on condition that this division be approved of by the probate court July the 24th A D 1849 William Jarrett as guardian of Levi Feltchers heirs.

APPLICATION FOR LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION

   In the Probate Court February 15 1928, I, W. L. Pope, now making application for Letters

of Administration on the estate of J. C. LANE, who died intestate about ________ 1927, do 

solemnly swear, that to the best of my knowledge and belief, the value of the estate of J. C. LANE

late of Ravenden Springs in the County aforesaid, deceased, is about TWO HUNDRED Dollars;

that the names and residence of the heirs of the deceased, as far as known, are as follows, viz:



T. R. Lane, Gatewood, Mo., Ella Looney - Ravenden Springs, Kinnard, Bernard, Jonnie, Carson,

 Willie, Arval



that the said J. C. LANE deceased, died leaving no last will and testament, so far as known by

him and further, that I will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all and singular 

the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the decease, and pay his debts, as far as the 

assets which may come to my hands will extend, and the law directs' and I will account for,

and pay over according to law, all assets which shall come to my hands or possession, so 

help me God.
