The Rev. Jesse Richardson Pratt family

Rev. Jesse Richardson Pratt was born Jan. 13, 1804 in Tennessee. He was married two times, first to Frances "Frankie" Fox in abt. 1827. Frances was said to have been of Indian heritiage.To this union was born eight children; Taletha b. 1828 m. Williamson Osborne Gibson; Matthew Young b. 1832 m. Jane ? ; Mary Elizabeth b. 1834 m. Elvis Harrison; William b. 1836 m. M.L. Stevens; John Bunyon b.1837 m. Nancy Louisa Haynes; Jesse Richardson, Jr. b. 1839 m. Claudia Elizabeth Atkinson; Thomas Green b.1841 m. Susan A. Haynes and Milton J. b. 1843. Frances died and is buried in Potosi, Washington, Missouri. (Cemetery unknown)

Rev. Jesse Richardson Pratt married Elizabeth Gibson, daughter of Robert Gibson and Martha Belton, on Feb .6, 1844 in Washington County Missouri. To this union was born eight children; Robert Gibson b. 1844 m. Martha Matilda Russell; Frances Irene b. 1847 m. (1) Jacob Hufstedler (2) Jasper N. Carroll; Preston Akers b.1849 m. (1) Harriet Ann Drake (2) Delana Ann Lomax (3) Amanda J. Corbin Fondran; Martha J. b. 1850 m. Joseph E. Irby; Joshua Cartee b.1852 m.Tennessee Caroline Dawson; Lucinda Angeline b.1855 m. Rev. Milton Drew Bowers; Sarah Jane b. 1859 m. Henry Sterling Bennett; Sterling Price Pratt b. 1862 m. Clytia Augusta Alexander.

Jesse fought in both the Blackhawk Indian War and also the Civil War on the confederate side. He moved from Iron County, Missouri to Randolph County in 1865 and eventually settled in the Warm Springs area, where he established the Mud Creek Baptist church and held the pastorate there until his death in 1888.

Jesse Richardson Pratt Jr.
Jesse, Jr, son of Rev. Jesse R. Pratt and Frances Fox, was born in 1839 in Washington Co. Mo. and died July 4,1885 in Randolph co. Ar. and is buried at Old Union Cem..He married Claudia Elizabeth Atkinson on Nov.11,1863 in Smith Co. Texas.  

Thomas "Green" Pratt and Susan Haynes Pratt
Green was born 20 Dec 1841 and his wife, Susan, was born 12 Feb 1839. Green settled in the Ironton Missouri area after the war, where he and his son, Henry Lewis Pratt, and grandson, William Thomas Pratt, are all buried. Contributed by Ronnie Warren.

Martha J. Pratt Irby, daughter of Rev. Jesse and Elizabeth. Martha was born Dec.8,1850 in Iron Co. Mo. and died Nov 2 ,1928 in Haskell Co. Texas. She married Joseph E. Irby in Randolph Co. on April 29,1869.

This picture is of Frances Irene Pratt- Hufstedler-Carroll, daughter of Rev. Jesse and Elizabeth. Also pictured is Ethel Carroll Mondy, daughter of Frances and second husband, Jasper Newton Carroll. The little girl is Nell Irene Mondy, daughter of Ethel Carroll and husband, Daly Mondy. Frances was born Mar. 29,1847 in Reynolds Co, Mo. Frances died Dec. 15, 1937 in Randolph, Co. Ar.

Joshua Cartee "Doss" Pratt and wife Tennessee Caroline Dawson
Tennessee Caroline Dawson is the daughter of Allen Dawson and  Agnes Nancy Brown. Doss and Tennessee are buried in Shiloh Cemetery. Doss was born 13 Dec 1852 and died 24 Oct 1925. Tennessee was born 2 Sep 1859 and died 1 Dec 1944.

Amanda Corbin Fondran Pratt was the 3rd wife of Preston A. Pratt. The lady beside her is she and Preston's daughter, Gracie Ethel Pratt Tucker. Amanda was born Oct. 4,1860 in Indiana and died Sept.14,1948 in Craighead ,Co. Ar. Gracie was born Aug. 26,1892 in Randolph Co. Ar. and died in Lawrence Co. Ar on Dec. 30,1984. Both are buried in Shiloh Cemetery.

This is Williamson O. Gibson, husband of Taletha Pratt. He was born Mar. 4,1823  and died Sept. 22,1895. He and Taletha were married Mar. 26,1844 in Washington Co. Mo.  

THIRD GENERATION - GRANDCHILDREN OF REV. JESSE PRATT & ELIZABETH GIBSON

Jesse "Red Jess" Pratt and wife, Belle (LearBelle) King.
"Red Jess" was the son of Preston Akers "Press" Pratt and Delana Ann "Linnie" Lomax. Belle was the daughter of Thomas Davis King and Melinda Brannon Clark. Jesse and Bell had five children: James Lomax (Dink), b. 1875 m. Belle Stacy; Jesse "Red Jess" Richardson, b. 1877 m. Jacob Thomas (Tot), b. 1880 m. Lou Ada Riggs; Flora Mae, b. 1882 m. E. F. William Welch; and Joseph Newton, b. 1884 m. Lillian Welch.

Clarence Edgar Pratt and wife Clara Bishop Pratt. 
Clarence is the son of Preston A. and Amanda Corbin-Fondran Pratt. Amanda's maiden name was Corbin but she had been married previous to Preston to a Fondran. Clarence Edgar was born Aug 14, 1898 in Randolph Co. and died June 17,1940 in Randolph Co. Clara was born Dec 1,1902 in Randolph Co. and died Sept. 4, 1983. Both are buried at Antioch Cemetery in Randolph Co. Clara was the daughter of Mark Bishop and Lillie Forehand.

Flora Mae Pratt Welch
Flora was the daughter of Preston A. Pratt and Delana Lomax Pratt. She was born April 28, 1882 and died July 18, 1980 and is buried in Loco Cem. Loco, Ok. She married Benjamin Franklin William Welch on July 18, 1904 in Randolph Co. Ar. He was the son of Jesse V. Welch and Pry Ann Smith.

Benjamin Franklin William Welch and Flora Mae Pratt on their wedding day July 18,1904. Flora was the daughter of Preston Akers Pratt and Delana Ann Lomax. Benjamin was the son of Jesse James Valentine Welch and Pry Ann Smith.

Albert Mosbey Tucker and Gracie Ethyl Pratt on their wedding day Aug. 21, 1910. Gracie was the daughter of Preston Akers Pratt and Amanda J. Corbin Pratt. She was born Aug. 26, 1892 and Died Dec. 30, 1994. Albert was the son of Albert Childs Tucker and Naomia Dowdy Tucker. He was born April 22, 1887 and died Sept. 5, 1965. Both are buried at Shiloh Cem.

Augustus "Gus" Pratt was born 1894 and died between 1910 and 1920. He was said to have been a victim of drowning. It is believed that he is buried in Pirtle Cem. in Peach Orchard, Clay Co. Ar. where the family was residing at the time of his death. Gus was the son of Preston Akers Pratt and Amanda Corbin Fondran Pratt.

Jacob Thomas "Tot" Pratt and Flora Mae Pratt Welch are children of Preston A. Pratt and Delana A. Lomax Pratt. Tot was born Nov. 28,1880 and died July 1,1966 and is buried in Masonic Cem. in Pocahontas. He married Lou Ada Riggs on Oct. 4, 1908 in Randolph Co. Arkansas. Flora was born April 28,1882 and died Jul 18,1980 and is buried in Loco Cem. in Loco, Ok. She married Benjamin Franklin William Welch on Jul.18, 1904 in Randolph Co. Arkansas.

Jacob Thomas "Tot" Pratt and wife Lou Ada Riggs Pratt. Tot was the son of Preston A. Pratt and Delana A. Lomax Pratt . He was born Nov.28, 1880 and died July 1, 1966 . Lou Ada was the daughter of John Riggs and Susie Glasscock Riggs. She was born Aug. 26, 1885 and died Aug. 4, 1971. Tot and Ada were married Oct. 4, 1908 in Randolph Co. Arkansas. Both are buried in Masonic Cem. in Pocahontas. Pictures with Tot and Ada is their Grandson Linden Shelton. Linden is the son of Josephine Pratt Shelton and husband O. H. Shelton.

Lillie Louisa Pratt and husband Frank Hance. Lillie was born Oct. 15, 1890 to Preston Akers Pratt and 3rd wife Amanda J. Corbin Pratt. Lillie and Frank were married on Dec. 23, 1907 in Lawrence Co. Arkansas. She died Aug. 21, 1973 and he died Feb. 2, 1964 and both are buried in Corning Cemetery Corning, Clay Co, Ar.

Joseph Newton Pratt was born October 18, 1884 in Warm Springs, Randolph, Arkansas to Preston Akers Pratt and Delana Ann Lomax. Joseph died on July 17, 1944 in Loco, Oklahoma and is buried in the Loco Cemetery in Loco, Ok.  On Jan. 5, 1909 in Henrietta, Texas  Joseph married Lillian Mae "Lillie" Welch.  Lillie was born on March 30, 1895 in Summerville, Missouri a daughter of  Jesse James Valentine Welch and Pry Ann Smith.  Lillie died Aug. 19, 1991 in Duncan, Oklahoma and is buried in Duncan Municipal Cemetery in Duncan, Ok.  Pictured with Joseph and Lillie are their 3 sons Hal Buck, James Virgil and Delbert Milton Joseph Pratt. Not picturred is a daughter Betty Jo Pratt.

James Virgil Pratt was born November 7, 1909 and died August 13, 1977 and is buried in Loco Cemetery, Loco, Oklahoma. Hal Buck Pratt was born November 26, 1912 and died November 20, 1975 and is buried in Duncan Municipal Cemetery, Duncan, Oklahoma.

Earnest Bluford "Kern" Pratt was born March 8, 1898 at Ingram, Randolph County, Arkansas to Sterling Price and Clyda Alexander Pratt. Kern died on July 16, 1962 in Greenville Mississippi and is buried in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Mississippi.

Myrtis Viola Warner, wife of Earnest B. "Kern"  Pratt, was born on August 6, 1897 in Homes County, Mississippi to James Augustus and Fannie Jane Barrentine Warner. Viola died on October 15, 1978 in Greenville Mississippi and is buried in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville, Ms.  Pictured with Viola is a grandaughter, Marjorie Ann Pratt.

Ora is the daughter of Joshua Cartee "Doss" Pratt and Tennessee Caroline Dawson. She was born Nov. 8, 1879 and died May 5, 1950. James was born May 27, 1881 and died Jan. 24,1949. He was the son of James Davis Haynes and Frances Angeline Culberhouse. Ora and James were married Aug.20, 1899 in Randolph Co. Both are buried in Masonic Cem. Pocahontas, Ar.

Black Jesse is the son of Joshua Cartee " Doss " Pratt and Tennessee Caroline Dawson. He was born Aug. 25, 1882 and died May 3, 1939 and is buried in New Friendship Cem. in Paragould Ar. Mary Delula is the daughter of Robert Lee Haynes and Margaret Hufstedler and she was born Nov. 13, 1884 and died Nov.28, 1974 and is buried in New Friendship Cem. Jesse Allen "Black Jesse" Pratt and Mary Delula Haynes were married on Dec.8, 1903 in Randolph Co. Ar.

Jacob Newton Pratt was born March 1, 1889 the son of Joshua Cartee "Doss"  Pratt and Tennessee Caroline Dawson. Jacob died Feb. 14, 1980 and is buried in Masonic Cemetery Pocahontas, Arkansas. On August 2, 1908 in Randolph County Arkansas Jacob married Mary Elizabeth Bates.

Mary Elizabeth Bates Pratt 1st wife of Jacob Newton Pratt was born Feb. 15, 1891 the daughter of Horace Bates and Victoria Collier.  Mary died Nov. 7, 1947 and is buried in Masonic Cemetery Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Pictured is the family of Henry Lewis Pratt son of Thomas Green Pratt. Henry was born 13 Mar 1868. Pictured with Henry are his children. On far left is William Thomas Pratt, born 20 Feb 1892.

Easter Josephine Pratt and husband, Robert F. Carroll and son Oscar. Easter Josephine is the daughter of Robert Gibson Pratt and Martha Matilda Russell Pratt. She was born April 27, 1870 and married June 29, 1890 in Randolph Co. Ar.

Norah Louisa Pratt was born on November 18, 1866 in Randolph County Arkansas to Robert Gibson Pratt and Martha Matilda Russell. Norah Louisa died on August 12, 1940 in Flint, Michigan and is buried in Flushing Cemetery in Flushing Michigan. On Sept. 29, 1887 in Randolph County Arkansas Norah married James Franklin Shaver son of James Franklin Shaver and Lavina Elizabeth Waddle. James was born in Randolph County Arkansas on November 2, 1863 and died April 1, 1923 in Tipton Oklahoma and is buried in Oklahoma.  

This is Jesse Richardson Gibson son of Taletha Pratt Gibson and Williamson O. Gibson. He was born Aug. 16, 1845 and died July 28, 1927 and is buried in Johnston Chapel Cem. near Doniphan Mo.

This photo is of Jesse Richardson Gibson and wife Rudy Louisa Russell, and son Jesse Russell. Jesse R. Gibson is the son of Taletha Pratt Gibson and Williamson O. Gibson. Rudy Louisa was the daughter of Isham Russell and Easter Mock Russell.She was born Jan. 31,1848 and died Mar. 6, 1920. Both are buried in Johnston Chapel Cem. near Doniphan, Mo. Jesse Richardson Gibson and Rudy Louisa Russell were married on May 20, 1869 in Randolph Co. Ar.

Joshua Cartee "Cag" Bowers and wife Mary Etta Haynes in 1918. Cag is the son of Rev. Milton D. Bowers and Lucinda Angeline Pratt Bowers. He was born Dec. 9, 1875 and died Aug. 15,1946. Mary Etta is the daughter of James Davis Haynes and Frances Angeline Culberhouse. She was born April 9, 1873 and died May 30, 1960. Both are buried at Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas, Arkansas. They were married on Nov. 5, 1893 at Shiloh in Randolph Co. Arkansas.

Ethel Carroll Mondy, the daughter of Jasper Newton Carroll and Frances Irene Pratt. Ethel was born Feb. 19, 1889 and died June 1, 1972 . She is buried in Masonic Cem. in Pocahontas Arkansas. On July 16, 1916 Ethel was married to Daly D. Mondy in Randolph Co. Arkansas

Mary Magdalene Pratt was born November 18, 1888 in Warm Springs, Arkansas to Preston A.Pratt and Amanda J. Corbin Pratt. She was married to Thomas Chesley Massey on December 30, 1906 in Randolph County, Arkansas. Mary died on Jan. 2, 1948 in Jonesboro, Craighead, Arkansas  and is buried at Antioch Cemetery in Randolph County.

Jessie Frances Pratt was born Feb. 14,1873 a daughter of Jesse Richardson Pratt, Jr. and Claudia Elizabeth Atkinson. Jessie Frances died on  Jan. 16, 1929. She was married (1) William Lee Gates son of John W. Gates and Blinda Blackshire on Feb. 24, 1889. He died on Mar. 26, 1899. Jesse Frances married (2) Thomas E. Mosley Oct. 7, 1902. He died Jan. 17,1914.

Claudia "Lady" Pratt was the daughter of Jesse Richardson Pratt, Jr. and Claudia Elizabeth Atkinson. She was born Nov. 18,1866 and died Nov. 22, 1902.     John Wesley Akers was the husband of Claudia "Lady" Pratt . John was born Apr. 15,1855 the son of James Madison Akers and Martha Nations. He died in 1932. John and Claudia were married on Oct. 26,1885 in Randolph County Arkansas.

FOURTH GENERATION - GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN OF REV. JESSE PRATT & ELIZABETH GIBSON

Jesse Richardson " Red Jesse " Pratt and son Lucien Dean Pratt
Red Jesse was born Sept. 12,1877 and died Nov. 20, 1947.He was the son of Preston A. Pratt and Delana A. Lomax Pratt. He is buried at Shiloh Cem. Lucien was born Nov. 1,1917 and died Mar. 24, 1978 and is buried at Sutton Cem. Lucien's mother was Belle King Pratt (see third generation).

Another generation, pictured above are the two oldest daughters of Jesse "Red Jess" Pratt and Belle King. Mary "Myrl" Pratt, b. 1903 m. Ed Kincade; and Thersa May Pratt, b. 1905.

Norace G. Adams was born March 7,1902 in Warm Springs, Ar.and died Nov.14,1984 in Corning Ar.. He was the son of Lucie Orella Pratt Adams and Thomas E. Adams. (Lucie was the daughter of Preston A. Pratt and Harriet Drake Pratt) Norace was married to Ora Mae Sharp on April 24, 1939 in Clay Co. Ar. He is buried in Corning Cem, Corning, Clay Co., Ar.

Herbert Dewell Pratt and wife Elsie Elizabeth Dixon Pratt. Herbert was born Jan. 9,1901 a son of Lonnie Byrd Pratt and Martha Ann Robertson Pratt. Herbert died Aug. 31, 1990. Elsie was born Jan. 22, 1905 a daughter of John Dixon and Ellen McElrath Dixon. Elsie died Feb. 16, 1999. Herbert is a grandson of Robert Gibson Pratt and Martha Matilda Russell Pratt.

James Virgil Pratt and wife Sarah Gladys Shipman. James and Sarah were married Oct. 14,1944 in Jefferson County Oklahoma.This photo was taken 5 days after they were married. James was born Nov. 7,1909 the son of Joseph Newton Pratt and Lillian Mae Welch. James died Aug. 13,1977. Sarah was born July 1,1909 the daughter of James William Shipman and Martha Jane Boyd. ( James was the grandson of Preston Akers Pratt and Delana Ann Lomax )

Edmond Eugene Gates was born Jan. 7,1891 a son of William Lee Gates and Jessie Frances Pratt. Edmond died Aug. 15,1955.  On Sept. 12,1920 Edmond married Zella Myrle Hufstedler daughter of Joseph F. Hufstedler and Beatrice Thompson. Zella Myrle was born Jul. 10, 1894 and died Jan. 18,1993.

   Kern Pratt, Jr. was born September 26, 1922 in  Greenville, Mississippi to Earnest B. "Kern" Pratt and Myrtis Viola Warner Pratt. Kern Jr. died on Sept. 3, 1985 in Meridian, Mississippi and was buried in Pinecrest Cemetery in DeKalb, Mississippi.  On December 24, 1946 in Kemper County Mississippi  Kern, Jr. married Marjorie Delaine McDonald.  

Marjorie Delaine McDonald , wife of Kern Pratt, Jr. was born March 12, 1926 in DeKalb, Mississippi to Leslie Vernon McDonald and Josie Catherine Ollhoft. Marjorie died Feb. 27, 1991 in Meridian, Mississippi and was buried in Pinecrest Cemetery in DeKalb, Mississippi.
