Mr. Athanas enlisted in the Army Air Corps 31
October 1942 at Little Rock, Arkansas. He retired from the Air Force as
a lieutenant colonel. A transcription of his obituary may be found

Baugh, Monte Venoy
August 14, 1934 - November 11, 1998
Mr. Baugh, a 1954 graduate of Hot
Springs High School, retired from the U.S. Army as a major. He completed
basic training at Fort Chafe, attended officer candidate school at Fort
Benning, Georgia; served with the 11th Airborne in Germany, 101st Airborne
in Kentucky, at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; and
served three tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Parachutist Badge, National
Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with five Bronze Service Stars,
Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman
Badge with a Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Vietnam
Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star. 1
He is buried in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hot Springs.
Blanton, Clarence F. "Bill"

11, 1968
1043rd Radar Eval Squadron, 7th Air Force, United States Air
Force
United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. He was deputy in charge
of the classified mountain radar site, Lima 85 about 12 miles west
of the Lao/North Vietnam border in Phou Pha Thi, Laos. The site was overrun
by enemy forces leaving ten other men listed as Missing inn Action. Four
men had made it out on rescue helicopter one of which CMSgt Richard L. Etchberger.
He was hit by gun fire aboard the helicopter and died moments later. Col
Donald E Westbrook was lost two day later destroying the site that was in
enemy hands.
Colonel Blanton's remains were recovered and identified
in 2012, and he now rests in El Reno Cemetery, Canadian County, Oklahoma.
LTC Blanton's widow is a member of the MPGS.

after serving his country and completing two tours of duty in Korea and
Vietnam during conflict he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force
as a SMSGT. Upon retirement he continued to work with the Disabled American
Veterans at local, state, and national levels.

Gobert, Olga Ray, Sr.

On May 28, 1950, shortly after graduating from high school, he enlisted
in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country with honors
for twenty-two years. His service included duty in the Korean Conflict ,
Norway, Turkey and the Vietnam War. During his military career, he was awarded
the Bronze Star Medal, Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Air Force
Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired from the military
in 1972 at the rank of chief master sergeant.

Holloway, James E., III

Dr. Lt. Colonel Holloway was drafted into the Army out of junior college
and served in the Vietnam War in the 4th infantry Recon Division from
1968 until 1970. He remained in the Army Reserves and after his return
and was called again to active duty in February 2003. He served in
Kuwait and Iraq for four months before being injured. He died due to the
injuries he receives in Iraq.

Ed was an officer in the U.S. Army for
23 years and served in the Vietnam War as a DUSTOFF pilot where he
earned 16 awards including the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying
Cross, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Medal.
Among his assignments, he served as the MEDDAC Treaty Officer in Panama
during the planning and preparation for implementation of the Panama
Canal Treaty 1978 - 1981. He retired in 1987 having achieved the rank of
lieutenant colonel.
Mr. Sullivan is buried in Fort Sam Houston
National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar Co, Texas.

Terry, Billie D.

US Army 124th transportation; serving from 1968-1969
Billie D. Terry "Bill," 65, died July 13, 2011, at the VA hospital, Little
Rock, of cancer. He was in the US Army 124th transportation, serving one
tour in Vietnam (1968-1969).
He is the son of Luther and Madge (Barnett)
Terry. He retired from Terminix after 35 years due to health.
Bill is
preceded in death by his parents and son Michael David Terry.
He is survived
by his wife Kathie; son Quincy; daughter Tayna and son-in-law Paul Anderson;
granddaughters Arial Terry, Amber Anderson and grandson Logan Terry; his
three brothers Gilbert Terry and Velmjean Phillips, Donald Terry and wife
Mary and Jessie Terry and wife Glenda all of Hot Springs. He is also survived
by four sisters - Edna Bettis of Benton, Esther Michau and husband Steven
of Diamondhead and June Swaim and husband Bill of Crystal Springs, and Sheila
Perry and husband B. J.; nieces and nephew, brother-in-laws and sister-in-law
- John and Cathy Slater, Roy and Sheri Slater, Charlie and Beck Slater,
John and Jackie Jones all of Hot Springs, James and Adair Slater of Fort
Smith and Gary and Diane Slater of Malvern.
He is a member of Lakeshore
Drive Disciples of Christ Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 5:00
7:00 p.m. July 22, 2011, Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Service will be at 9:30
July 23, 2011, Lakeshore Drive Disciples of Christ Christian Church with
Rev. Jeff Robinett and Chaplain Richard Miles officiating.
Pallbearers
include Ted Lynn, Franky Sears, Freddy Sears, Spencer Lynn, Johnny White,
Gary Miller, Larry Leckner, Gary Slater, and John Jones.
